🩻You will struggle to find a Pilates movement that isn’t great for spinal health. but here are 5 of my favourite on the CHAIR!
1️⃣ people with pain have long avoided Swan dive prep, spinal extension, but it can and should be achievable in some form eventually. It is all in the set up, teaching and cueing.
2️⃣ Side bend, we need to move the spine in all planes of motion, which should quickly lead to multidirectional planes all at once. Sometimes it is necessary in a rehab setting to move in one plane of motion only, but with the end goal of moving omnidiractionally...........
3️⃣ Side bend into teaser, and I present to you the omnidirectional next step of the previous exercise. ;-)
4️⃣ Foot work, although it may look as it the spine isn’t doing anything, this is actually the essence of the exercise. Having the ability to control spinal movement and maintain constraints around the torso while disassociating the hip is key!
5️⃣ Jackknife, The ultimate in spinal mobility, abdominal strength and control.
Try them, enjoy them and let me know how it goes❗️
As always, if you have questions, looking for something more personal with a 1:1 session, or want to join my next masterclass, DM me and we can work some magic 🌞
