Shoulder Pain and what you need to know 💪
Your shoulder is the most unstable and moveable joint in your body. Its wide range of motion occurs due to four primary muscles and their tendons, called the rotator cuff. If your shoulder becomes inflamed or an impingement happens, you may make the mistake of trying to avoid using your arm to help it heal. It may surprise you that not moving can contribute to more pain or even lead to a frozen shoulder. Controlled movement is one of the best ways to heal.
Why It Matters:
The tendons are the most common source of shoulder pain. Your tendons attach the muscles of the shoulder to the bones. If a tendon becomes trapped, it can result in shoulder impingement. If a tendon becomes inflamed, you may hear it called tendinitis or bursitis. And if a tendon becomes torn, you guessed it; you have a rotator cuff tear.
• Shoulder Bursitis: If the sac of fluid that cushions your shoulder becomes swollen and painful due to repetitive motions, you may have bursitis.
• Shoulder Impingement: If your tendons get pinched between or under the bones of your shoulder, it can lead to impingement. Lifting overhead repetitively can cause impingement, resulting in swelling and pain.
• Rotator Cuff Tear: Your rotator cuff can become damaged due to overuse, injury, or age. Tears usually cause pain when you try to lift things, and you may hear a popping sound as you move.
Next Steps:
Your shoulder and spine work together. While it may seem like they are two completely different areas, it's been discovered that postural abnormalities can play a significant role in your likelihood of developing shoulder pain. Maintaining a full range of motion in your shoulder and spinal joints of your neck and mid-back can help reduce your chances of dealing with shoulder pain. If you have shoulder discomfort or restricted movement, schedule a visit with us today. We'll work to create a movement-based plan to help you find long-term relief.

This article showed a great understanding of the goals of chiropractic, citing: “The ultimate goal of chiropractic is to help relieve pain and help patients better manage their condition at home” (2).
I couldn’t have said it any better.
As a chiropractor, my goal is always to get my patients out of pain and prevent their injuries from returning with full biomechanical evolution and active steps to maintain long-term change.
This article was well-researched and included many newer trends in chiropractic, such as working in an integrative health care system, which we are lucky to have already in Dubai.

All types of headaches have one thing in common—they are not "normal" to deal with frequently. The most commonly experienced types of headaches are migraine, tension, and cluster headaches.
Many people attempt to self-treat their headaches (sound familiar?), and this could be why so many of us aren't aware that there are natural treatments available that don't involve frequent use of over-the-counter meds.
The path to lasting relief starts with pinpointing which type of headache you're living with. The triggers of migraine and tension headaches differ quite a bit! The good news? As body mechanics, we know what to look for!
There is no "magic" number of times you must experience a headache before seeking help, and you certainly don't have to try and get by on over-the-counter meds before you do. The moment it returns is reason enough!
And our expert team is here to help you find the alternative research-backed treatments that are right for you. So, do something your body will thank you for over and over again—schedule your next appointment today!
Until next week, make time for your self-care. Call or go online to schedule your next visit. (And if you found this helpful, please forward to a friend.)

Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) is the term used for pain in and around your pelvis. This may be in your lower back, buttocks, hips, groin or p***c bone. One in five women (20%) are likely to experience PGP at some point in their pregnancy.
What Causes back and PGP in pregnancy?
There are various reasons for developing PGP in pregnancy:
• The majority of Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) stems from the uneven movement of your pelvic joints. As your baby develops in the uterus, the added weight and shifts in posture from sitting or standing can increase pressure on your joints.
• As your child grows, the shift in your body's center of gravity towards the front may make you feel inclined to lean backward. This change in posture can strain the muscles and joints of your back, leading to discomfort and pain.
• As your tummy and pelvic floor muscles stretch, they weaken, providing less support to your back and pelvis.
• As pregnancy progresses, day-to-day tasks at work and home, as well as caring for other children, may become more challenging due to increased fatigue. The joints and muscles need to exert more effort to maintain your body's balance.
What are the symptoms of PGP and pregnancy-related back pain?
The pain can increase with everyday activities such as bending down, lifting objects, twisting, prolonged sitting or standing. The pain is commonly experienced on:
• walking
• putting your weight through one leg, for example getting dressed or climbing stairs
• moving your legs apart for example getting in and out of a car or the bed
• turning over in bed; this may lead to disturbed sleep
How is PGP/low back pain diagnosed?
Diagnosing PGP relies on the symptoms you present. An evaluation may be necessary to examine your posture, back movement, pelvic and hip joint mobility, as well as the strength of the muscles surrounding your pelvis.
What else can I do to help look after my back and pelvis?
A good posture will automatically work your lower tummy, pelvic floor and back muscles. This will support your back while you are sitting, standing and doing everyday activities.
The following simple measures may help:
• Keeping active helps to keep your muscles strong.

Dealing with low back pain? You're not alone. 🏋️♂️ Many athletes experience musculoskeletal issues and neuromuscular impairments in the lower back and pelvis, which can lead to decreased performance and increased risk of injuries.
A recent study with 17 sports club players showed that sports chiropractic therapy significantly improved flexibility, reduced lower back pain, and enhanced trunk extensor muscle endurance. While more research is needed, these findings suggest that chiropractic care could be a valuable tool for athletes. Stay proactive about your back health to maintain peak performance! 💪

From a young age Dr Madelaine knew she wanted to become a Chiropractor after sustaining a sporting injury during a provincial squash tournament. After months of physical therapy and talk of a spinal fusion, it was turning to Chiropractic that spared her the operating table. The remarkable results she saw first-hand from her first adjustment inspired her to pursuing what would become her life’s passion.
Madelaine ran her own successful private practice in South Africa for 5 years before being approached by the TAGS Spine and Joint Specialist group in Malaysia with an exciting offer to run a clinic in Malaysia.
The high level of expertise along with a standard of clinical excellence in spine and joint care practiced by TAGS convinced Madelaine that this was an ideal opportunity to get involved in a pioneering approach to healthcare being practiced by TAGS.
This involved using the very latest diagnostic technology and therapeutic tools combined with complementary and alternative methods in health care and rehabilitation. These methods include extensive MRI scan examinations to determine non-surgical Spinal Decompression strategies in treating mild to moderate disc bulges.
After a further three years at Pure European Chiropractic in Dubai Media City, Madelaine decided to follow her dream and open her own practice, the Franklin Chiropractic and Physiotherapy Center.
With over 10 years’ experience in her field, Dr Madelaine Franklin has extensive qualifications and certification in specialist fields that include techniques such as kinesiology taping techniques, impulse instrumentation adjusting techniques, dry needling, Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT), mechanical spinal decompression specialist, unloader corrective knee bracing systems and custom foot balance orthotics.
