🧠💬 Communication After Stroke: What You Should Know

A stroke can change how the brain processes language — and that can affect speaking, understanding, reading, or writing. This condition is called aphasia, and it affects about 1 in 3 stroke survivors. Changes to the way speech sounds with no language difficulty is called dysarthria.

Communication changes after stroke might look like:
🔹 Difficulty finding the right words
🔹 Speaking in short or incomplete sentences
🔹 Trouble understanding fast speech or complex instructions
🔹 Reading or writing challenges
🔹 Slurred or slow speech (due to muscle weakness — not aphasia)

💡 But here’s the important part: recovery is possible. With speech therapy, support, and patience, many people improve over time.

If someone you love is going through this, here’s how you can help:
💙 Be patient
💙 Use simple, clear language
💙 Give them time to respond
💙 Use gestures, pictures, or writing when needed
💙 Keep talking — connection matters

Meet Qingchao Zhu – Sports Massage Therapist 🏋️‍♂️🧘‍♂️

Im a qualified Chinese medicine practitioner currently advancing my expertise through sports medicine studies in London. Holding a license in Sports Massage Physiotherapy here in Dubai.

Combining traditional Chinese medicine with targeted sports pressure massage, I offers a holistic approach to injury treatment and performance enhancement.

When I work with a client, I start by looking at the body as a whole — assessing how it moves, where it holds tension, and what might be limiting performance or causing discomfort.

From there, I create a personalised plan designed to do more than just relieve symptoms. My goal is to help strengthen core stability, activate the deep muscles that support healthy movement, and improve overall efficiency and balance in the body.

It’s not just about recovery — it’s about prevention, performance, and empowering the body to heal itself. Whether you’re managing pain, coming back from a sports injury, or simply looking to move better, I focus on restoring your body’s natural rhythm and energy.

✅ Relieve pain
✅ Support sports-specific rehabilitation
✅ Prevent injury and aid recovery
✅ Strengthen core stability and activate deep muscles
✅ Rebalance the body’s energy for optimal movement

For me, it’s about treating the whole person — not just the symptoms — and helping you move, feel, and perform better every day.

Let’s work together to restore balance and unlock your body’s potential. 🌱

🧠 Speech Therapy After a Stroke: Rebuilding Communication 💬

A stroke can affect speech, language, and swallowing, but speech therapy plays a crucial role in helping individuals regain their abilities and improve their quality of life. 🌱✨

After a stroke, many people experience difficulty speaking, understanding language, or swallowing. A speech-language pathologist (SLP) works with patients to develop personalized strategies to address these challenges, focusing on regaining as much communication function as possible. 🗣️💪

🔑 How Speech Therapy Helps After a Stroke:
• Improving speech clarity and expression (dysarthria)
• Enhancing language comprehension and communication skills (aphasia)
• Strengthening swallowing to prevent choking and ensure safe eating (dysphagia)
• Boosting confidence in conversations and social interactions (cognitive communication disorders)

With the right support, recovery is possible! If you or someone you love is recovering from a stroke, speech therapy can make all the difference in rebuilding communication and independence. ❤️

🧠Brain Injury & Speech and Language Therapy 🗣️

Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is any trauma to the head that disrupts the normal function of the brain (NICE UK, 2007). This can affect the scalp, skull, brain tissue, or the protective membranes around the brain.

ABI can lead to challenges with:
• Speech
• Language
• Communication
• Swallowing
• Movement
• Thinking
Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) play a vital role in supporting individuals with brain injuries. Their work focuses on improving quality of life and promoting independence.

SLTs help by:
• Assessing speech, language, social interaction, and swallowing.
• Developing personalised treatment plans.
• Recommending tools and devices to aid communication.
• Training individuals and families to support communication strategies.
• Delivering goal-driven therapy tailored to each person’s needs.

With the right support, people with brain injuries can rebuild their communication and regain confidence in everyday life.

Feeling tense by 10am? Struggling to maintain focus or movement throughout the day?
In today’s fast-paced world, stress can affect us in subtle but impactful ways, especially in how we move, rest, and recover.

Our physiotherapists often see patients whose posture, mobility, or physical discomfort are closely tied to daily stress habits. It's not about diagnosing stress, but recognising the role it plays in your physical wellbeing.

From breathing strategies to tailored movement routines, physiotherapy can be part of a broader approach to feeling better in your body, especially when life is pulling in all directions.
A small shift in awareness can make a big difference in how you move through your day.

Hey parents, you're some of the most resilient humans on the planet—but even superheroes need support.

Between school runs, work deadlines, and “just one more episode” bedtimes, the stress load can feel constant. And the kicker? It often gets brushed off as “normal.”

At Optimal Clinic, we see the ripple effects of chronic stress every day. But we also see what happens when parents get proper care—from managing sleep and nutrition, to addressing physical strain and emotional overload.

Whether it’s a nutrition tweak, pelvic floor support post-baby, or just someone asking how you’re doing—we’re here.

Because you deserve care that sees you, not just the role you play.

📲Please call or WhatsApp the clinic on 0504233302 for bookings.
