What is Liposuction?
A surgical procedure used to remove excess fat, liposuction is safe and effective with a short recovery time. Small incisions will be placed along the treated area, and a small hollow tube called a cannula will be placed inside. Using a vacuum suction attachment, the cannula will break up and extract fat cells while causing minimal trauma to the body.
There are multiple techniques available for liposuction treatment as well as various forms of anesthetic. The options that are suitable for your procedure will be discussed during your consultation
Liposuction can either be a standalone procedure or combined with other cosmetic surgeries such as a tummy tuck or breast reduction, which can be discussed during your visit.
What Areas Can Be Treated?
Liposuction is safe for use in multiple areas on the body, including the chest area, buttocks, hips, thighs, waist, abdomen, back, upper arms, inner knee, cheeks, chin, neck, calves and ankles.
Am I a Good Candidate for Liposuction?
Men and women who have excess fat, are in generally good health and have realistic expectations are typically considered to be good candidates for this procedure. While liposuction effectively and permanently removes excess fat, it is not a solution for weight loss. We will evaluate your medical history and cosmetic goals to determine if liposuction is right for you.
Is Downtime Necessary?
The recovery period after liposuction can vary, depending on the extent of the procedure. Bandages will be applied to control swelling, and incision sites may require aftercare. Stitches are removed after seven days, and patients are usually able to return to work within several days. Doctor will provide you with necessary post-treatment instructions.
How Long Do Results Last?
The fat that is extracted during liposuction is removed permanently, but treated areas can still be affected by weight that is gained after the procedure. Other major changes such as pregnancy and the aging process can also affect liposuction results, but maintaining a healthy lifestyle and stable body weight can add longevity to your slimmer figure.
