We did it together 💧💙

Today, the Medical Benefits Scheme proudly observed Drink Water All Day 2026 under our PAN Project Initiative, reinforcing a simple but powerful message: water is the best drink.

From our team to the wider community, we joined the call to support every child’s right to healthy hydration and to encourage healthier habits at home, at school, and in the workplace.

Choosing water over sugary drinks supports better health, better focus, and better learning.
Let’s continue to make water the beverage of choice, not just today, but every day.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped spread the message.

💧 Drink Water All Day 2026 – encouraging children and families to make water the beverage of choice
📅 March’s MBS 2026 Calendar Challenge – Get Your MBS Documents in Order for uninterrupted access to services and benefits

It was a great interview and a great opportunity to remind the public that healthier choices and better service access go hand in hand.

💚 Kidney Disease Pilot Project in Barbuda 💚

World Kidney Day Team, Antigua and Barbuda Samaritan Society , supported by Sir Lester Bird Medical Center, and Medical Benefits Scheme - Kidney Disease Pilot Project in Barbuda.
We reflect on a meaningful and impactful initiative focused on education, screening, and prevention. We were grateful for the opportunity to have engaged with the community and promote better kidney health.

🔍 A key reminder: The main causes of kidney disease are diabetes and hypertension. Managing your blood sugar, blood pressure, and making positive lifestyle changes can significantly reduce your risk.

🥗 A balanced diet is essential — choosing healthier options and following the six Caribbean food groups can go a long way in protecting your kidneys and overall health.

💧 Stay hydrated, stay active, and make smart choices every day.

🙏 Thank you, Barbuda, for welcoming us! It was a pleasure serving your community and working together towards a healthier future.

💚 Continuing the Conversation on Kidney Health in Barbuda 💚

World Kidney Day Team, Antigua and Barbuda Samaritan Society , supported by Sir Lester Bird Medical Center, and Medical Benefits Scheme - Kidney Disease Pilot Project in Barbuda. On Friday 13 March, the team extended its outreach to the Sir McChestney Secondary School and Holy Trinity Primary School, educating students on the importance of kidney health and prevention.

👩‍⚕️ At the secondary school, Dr. Brown delivered key insights on:
• The function of the kidneys and how kidney disease can develop over time
• How kidney disease can impact lifestyle, not only for individuals but also their families
• The importance of avoiding smoking, alcohol, and highly sweetened beverages

💬 The session was highly interactive, with students and teachers asking thoughtful questions about dialysis, kidney transplants, and what happens if the body rejects a transplanted kidney.

🥗 Nutritionist Juanita James encouraged healthy habits by reminding students that:
• We all have choices — fruits over candy, water over soda
• A balanced diet, guided by the six Caribbean food groups, is essential for good health

👨‍⚕️ At the primary school, Dr. Constant engaged younger students with a fun and practical demonstration, showing how the kidneys work by filtering water with dirt. He also explained where the kidneys are located and their size in a way students could easily understand.

👏 The students were fully engaged, eager to learn, and confidently answered questions throughout the session.

🥦 Nutritionist Juanita James reinforced the message, encouraging students to ask their parents for more fruits and vegetables and make healthier food choices every day.

🙏 We extend our sincere thanks to the principals, teachers, and students for welcoming us and supporting this important initiative.

📚✨ MBS Outreach in Action! ✨📚

The MBS Communications & Marketing Team, along with representatives from our Registration and Compliance Departments, recently visited The Antigua and Barbuda College of Advanced Studies (ABCAS) for an informative and interactive presentation to the 2nd Year Business Administration class, on Thursday, 5 March at the Eustace Hill Campus.

The session focused on educating students about the Medical Benefits Scheme; who we are, what we do, and the importance of registering, remaining compliant, and making contributions to the Scheme.
📝 Students were also shown how to correctly complete the R3A Form, giving them practical knowledge they can apply in real-world settings.

👏 The students were highly engaged asking thoughtful questions, gaining clarity, and actively participating throughout the session. At the end of the presentation, MBS tokens were awarded to students who answered questions correctly!
We are proud to support education and empower the next generation with the knowledge they need for a healthier, more informed future. 💚 Thank you to the teachers and Principal for accommodating us on this initiative.
