In November, 2012, for the first time in Armenia, after years of endevour, hard work and devoted efforts, a Family Medicine Independent Group Pratice("Margarit" PHC center) launched in Abovyan city. This is a great success in the way of establishing independent family medicine practices in urban areas of Armenia. Two family doctors of Abovyan's "Margarit" PHC center already have more than 3820 registered patients, and provide health services to 50-70 patients daily. The creation of this practice was possible thanks to the Ministry of Health Program Implementation Unit (PIU) direct contribution, and USAID HS-STAR project continuous methodological, advisory, educational and material support.

Today, on November 26, the future international instructors left for Tbilisi, Georgia. In Georgian College of Emergency Physicians training center, they will participate in 2-week TOT trainings, which cover almost all areas of emergency care, and will acquire the basic skills in all those emergency care related disciplines. Having up to a dozen internationally qualified trainees/instructors, the HS-STAR will start to support the planning of the trainings of almost the whole staff of the Armenian emergency care system providing corresponding courses to around 120 physicians and nurses during 2013.
