Armaveni Charitable Foundation began the program "Standing Tall" spontaneously. Several years ago, one generous person happened to be present during a patient examination in Dr. Mirzoyan's office. Treatment was necessary, but the cost of the treatment was beyond the means of the patient's family, which frustrated the patient's mother. Dr. Mirzoyan offered a significant discount, but even that was
impossible for the patient, who was from a very low-income family. "I'll pay for the treatment," said the witness to the conversation. On the day after the surgery, the idea for the program was born. The surgeon realized that it could be possible to treat patients with various orthopedic problems with the help of other generous people. Initially, many had trouble believing such a program could be real. In a few cases, the parents of patients were skeptical, afraid that the doctors might just be doing experiments on their child. Sponsors, too, were sometimes unsure that their contributions would go directly toward concrete treatment. There are no longer such concerns. The track record of the program speaks for itself, and the long waiting list of patients, as well as the list of individuals and organizations involved in sponsorship, attests to the effectiveness of the program. "Standing Tall" has proven itself.
