On World Health Day, we are reminded that access to healthcare is not a privilege. It is a necessity. Transforming the healthcare sector in Africa requires more than intent. It demands action, innovation, and a real commitment to access.

In this context, New Cognito is taking an active role with the launch of NC+, a technological infrastructure designed to bring essential services closer to remote communities.

By combining advanced connectivity with telemedicine solutions and digital financial services, NC+ helps deliver healthcare to those who need it most, while also promoting financial inclusion and sustainable development.

This initiative reinforces Jeta’s mission to drive the growth of the healthcare sector in Africa through solutions that create real impact in people’s lives.

Discover how this project is transforming access to healthcare and digital services in Angola.

In this article, Morato Custodio offers a first-hand, strategic perspective on the country’s new Startup Law and what it truly signals for founders, investors and the future of innovation.

This is more than legislation. It’s a shift in mindset and a potential turning point for one of Africa’s most overlooked tech ecosystems.
If you want to understand why this moment matters and what comes next, this is worth your attention.

Jeta was at the 1st E&M Health Conference in Angola last week, held under the theme “Modernisation of the Hospital Network and Improvement of Services.“

The Secretary of State for Health, Carlos Alberto Pinto de Sousa, put it plainly: none of Angola‘s healthcare goals will be achieved “without a structural change in the health financing model.“

That‘s the kind of honesty that makes these conversations worth having.

Our group companies Yapama and Aliva were part of the discussion alongside public and private stakeholders working to strengthen Angola‘s national healthcare system — expanding access to care and thinking seriously about long-term infrastructure.

Proud to be in the room where this work is taking shape.

Aliva celebrates 11 years, and for us at JETA, this milestone carries a meaning that goes beyond the calendar.

It was with Aliva that it became clear that it is possible to build, in Angola, a healthcare model grounded in rigour, proximity, and long-term commitment. Eleven years of operation also represent eleven years of learning about what it truly means to serve well — and proof that people’s trust is earned day by day, through consistency and dedication.

Congratulations to the team, the partners, and everyone who made this journey possible.

Digitalization is no longer just a tool—it has become a fundamental pillar for Africa’s growth and development. Small and medium-sized enterprises, which form the backbone of the continent’s economy, are scaling and accessing new markets through the adoption of digital solutions and mobile payment platforms.

Challenges remain, including limited connectivity, high costs, and gaps in digital literacy. Yet, investing in technology, skills development, and digital inclusion is essential to accelerate Africa’s economic and social progress in a sustainable way.

Digitalization is not just the future—it is a necessary pathway for the continent to grow inclusively and competitively.

Over the past years, most of JETA’s growth started the same way:
through strong local relationships and people who truly know their markets.

As we expand our investment and acquisition activity across Sub-Saharan Africa, we’re taking a more intentional step toward building a small network of trusted local partners — people on the ground who can help us spot meaningful opportunities early.

- We’re especially interested in opportunities across:
- Healthcare and medical services
- Medical devices
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing or distribution
- Fintech and digital financial services
- Technology and Cyber Security

If you’re deeply connected in your local ecosystem — or know someone who is — We would be happy to start a conversation. Many of the best partnerships begin with a simple introduction.

We believe in an Africa built on solutions designed for its realities, led by Africans, and shaped for the future.

We are an active piece in building Africa, for Africans.
