The Department of Health invites all mothers and caregivers of children ages 0 to 5 to join us for a special Breastfeeding Celebration this Friday, August 8th, from 9 AM to 12 PM at the Tafuna Well Baby Clinic. Enjoy fun activities, program showcases, giveaways, and refreshments as we celebrate the importance of prioritizing breastfeeding.

The American Samoa Department of Health proudly supports the Governor’s Proclamation declaring August 1–7 as WIC Breastfeeding Week in American Samoa!

Breastfeeding is the foundation for a healthy start in life. This proclamation recognizes the critical role that WIC plays in promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding for mothers and babies across our territory.

This year’s theme for World Breastfeeding Week 2025 is:
"Prioritizing Breastfeeding by Creating Sustainable Support Systems." Together, we can build strong communities that uplift and empower families to choose breastfeeding with confidence and support.

The NOAA Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii has confirmed that an earthquake with an 8.7 magnitude occurred off the East Coast of Kamchatka, Russia at 12:25 PM SST on Tuesday July 29, 2025.

A TSUNAMI ADVISORY CONTINUES IN EFFECT FOR AMERICAN SAMOA!!!!!! A TSUNAMI WAS GENERATED BY THIS EARTHQUAKE. BASED ON AVAILABLE DATA THERE IS THREAT TO AMERICAN SAMOA!!! THE EARLIEST ESTIMATED TIME THAT HAZARDOUS SEA LEVEL FLUNCTUATIONS AND STRONG OCEAN CURRENTS MAY BEGIN IN AMERICAN SAMOA IS 9:39 PM SST ON TUESDAY JULY 29 2025.
