Pacific Behavioral Health Initiative

Pacific Behavioral Health Initiative PBHI is a workforce development project aimed at building a cadre of qualified trainers for the Pacific Region

In 2011, SAMHSA, through a landmark collaborative effort with the Pacific Behavioral Health Collaborating Council (PBHCC), initiated a workforce development project aimed at building a cadre of qualified trainers for the Pacific Region. Since that time, this collaborative effort has not only provided significant training and workforce related outcomes, it has also significantly increased the ability of the PBHCC to develop and manage a range of projects across the Pacific, not just for individual Jurisdictions. What developed is now a Pacific-wide service and administrative capability that an be brought to bear in a number of pressing areas from infrastructure development to Block Grant applications and management. indeed, the PBHCC now refers to our mutual effort as the "Pacific Behavioral Health Initiative" as it more accurately describes the range of possibilities for our collaboration into the future.
