This fundamental question will be addressed by the VieSID Summer School 2026 (𝟮𝟮 – 𝟮𝟲 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆) at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, Unizahnklinik Wien , through the topics listed below in the poster.
The program is designed to inform about “the rules of nature” that allow dentists to plan successful oral rehabilitation, thus minimizing the risk of treatment failure and the incidence of iatrogenic effects. The discussion will focus on the effects of occlusal and skeletal discrepancies on the patient´s health, behavior, and emotions. Unravelling adaptation and compensation mechanisms will permit clinicians to better appreciate the benefits and limitations of various treatment approaches.
In sum, with this international congress, we aim to get to the essence of occlusion medicine while also exploring protocols and methods proper to individualized functional dentistry.

Contribute to the VieSID 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 2026 with a 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 presentation.

With this initiative, we want to motivate discussion on topics related to oral health and occlusion medicine and create a dialogue for research collaboration. To encourage participation, awards will be granted to the best three posters.
Posters can focus on 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀, 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆. Contributions should follow scientific rules and should include the following sections: introduction, materials/patient selection, methods, discussion, and conclusions. Authors are responsible for their poster`s content. The content of the poster should be original. If already published, the publication should not be older than 2023.
Please note that poster acceptance is at the discretion of VieSID.
Posters will be displayed in the foyer of the University Clinic of Dentistry Vienna.

This advanced course offers a comprehensive program for the early diagnosis and treatment of pediatric orthodontic cases, covering targeted diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Participants receive hands-on training with specialized orthodontic tools, including Functional Positioning Overlays (FPO).
The Interceptive Orthodontics Course is designed for orthodontists, dentists, and experienced dental professionals who wish to deepen their understanding of Interceptive Orthodontics according to the VieSID concept, improve diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning, work with both analog and digital workflows, and gain practical experience with the clinical tools and techniques for early treatment of children.

The main aim of the Vienna School of Interdisciplinary Dentistry (VieSID) is the dissemination of knowledge in occlusion medicine, based on the teachings of Professor Rudolf Slavicek (Vienna, 1928–2022). Through our School, dentists acquire the concepts and skill set necessary for the individualized treatment of the stomatognathic system, including in patients with pain and dysfunction.

We were honoured to present VieSID at AEEDC Dubai 2026, welcoming visitors from all over the world. We are particularly pleased to have brought this knowledge to the Arab world. For this tremendous opportunity, we thank Dr. Maad Al Soquor, al soquor , and SWISS MAADENT for hosting us, as well as his local team and collaborators for their outstanding organization and exquisite kindness.

Maintaining control over the clinical and laboratory protocols, thus ensuring accuracy, is crucial for the success of oral rehabilitation.

VieSID offers a comprehensive series of courses guiding dentists and dental technicians through the use of 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 and the application of 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀 for 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆.

In these courses,𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹𝘀 anchored in 𝗥𝘂𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗳 𝗦𝗹𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗸’s concepts are explained, and the CADIAS® 3D tools of the GAMMA dental software for occlusal analysis are explored (3D Dentistry Seminar).

In the Digital Dental Technology workshop, GAMMA is exploited as an interface with exocad, and hands-on work is carried out for digital splint design and crown modeling.

In the Digital Wax-Up workshop, Class I, II, III, and crossbite wax-ups are performed based on Slavicek’s occlusal concepts and integrating the patient’s individual parameters.

Session description:
VieSID integrates both orthopedic and biopsychosocial perspectives in treating the stomatognathic system, a framework referred to as occlusion medicine. In this model—reflecting the views of Professor Rudolf Slavicek—functional processes such as bruxism-mediated stress management, chewing, swallowing, speech, breathing, and postural control play a central role.
Based on this broad view of the stomatognathic system, an interdisciplinary approach should be undertaken for successful oral rehabilitation. It is therefore essential that a thorough clinical, functional, and morphological diagnosis is performed before treatment planning. Through the individualized and interdisciplinary approach proposed by VieSID, effective solutions can be provided for the management of complex cases with orofacial pain or cranio-mandibular dysfunctions.
In this session, the audience will be led by eminent speakers through the exploration of diagnostic and treatment protocols for the resolution of TMJ dysfunctions, including clinical, functional, image-based, and instrumental analyses, to address temporomandibular joints, neuromuscular system, and occlusion, thus providing stable and harmonious outcomes. Additionally, complementary medicine approaches for pain management and general oral health, such as acupuncture and laser therapy, will be illustrated.

About VieSID

VieSID is a foundation that is not profit oriented to promote occlusal dentistry.

VieSID, short for Vienna School of Interdisciplinary Dentistry, was originally founded to develop the postgraduate education program for dentists and dental technicians initiated by Prof. Rudolf Slavicek at Danube University Krems.

The idea of VieSID is to preserve and edit Prof. Slavicek’s lifework and concepts that are consistent like Prof. Sato’s and to develop and provide them globally. VieSID is working together with independent renowned international experts and lecturers and is taking care of the content as well as the organization of the curricula. At present, VieSID courses are held worldwide. From South America to Russia and China, the teaching of Prof. Rudolf Slavicek spreads.

VieSID courses turn the concept of lifelong learning into reality. The hands-on education allows to integrate innovative processes directly into the daily work routine. All VieSID courses combine theory and practical application and offer enough time for both.
