We congratulate Dr. Barbara Peter on the publication of her work on the topic of targeted inhibition of the epigenetic reader BRD4.
Targeting the epigenetic reader BRD4 overcomes multiple forms of leukemic stem cell resistance in chronic myeloid leukemia and may be a novel therapeutic approach for therapy resistant CML patients.

While many studies on vascular side effects of antineoplastic therapies are conducted, direct comparison of results is challenging due to lack of standardization in definitions and end points. A recent IC-OS consensus statement strives to provide definitions for the most often described CV toxicities to promote future research. The LBI HO was invited to contribute to this statement due to its long-standing expertise on vascular side effects of tyrosine kinase inhibitors.

On 9th of September, a jubilee meeting of the Vienna Cancer Stem Cell Club was held at the Palais Strudlhof.

The Vienna Cancer Stem Cell Club (VCSCC) was founded by a group of scientists at the Medical University of Vienna, with the main goal to initiate and promote cancer stem cell research in Austria.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, a scientific agenda with national and international experts who presented the latest developments in the field of neoplastic stem cells was prepared.

The event was organized by the Vienna Cancer Stem Cell Club, the Medical University of Vienna and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Hematology and Oncology.
