In the first 2 months, babies don’t have a schedule or even a clear sense of day and night.
The key is to focus on awake windows and your baby’s signs of tiredness. Watch the video and save the awake windows chart. If you have any questions - please feel free to drop them here in comments 🙏🏻

Newborn sleep can feel overwhelming – but a few dos and don’ts can make it easier:

✨ Put baby to bed when showing tiredness signs, not when already crying

✨ Follow awake windows instead of a strict schedule

✨ Let naps be short or long – both are normal

✨ Contact naps are perfectly fine – just keep them safe

✨ Night feeds are needed, but not every wake-up is hunger

✨ Independent sleep takes time – no need to rush or stress

Every baby is different, and what works for one may look different for another 💛

Let’s weigh the pros and cons of co-sleeping first🤔

✅ The pros:
- night feedings and comforting moments are easier when your baby is just an arm’s length away
- little ones often feel safer when nestled close.

⚠️ The risks:
- without proper precautions, the risk of SIDS increases significantly
- Babies become used to the presence of mama, making independent sleep a future challenge
- co-sleeping dynamics can disrupt couple time, with dads often finding a separate bed, and moms adjusting bedtime routines.

If co-sleeping is your only option, please minimize risks with these tips:
- Only one adult in bed, well-rested, and free of alcohol or drugs
- Remove extra items like pillows and blankets from the bed
- Baby is to be put to sleep on their back, consider swaddling or using a sleeping bag and offer a pacifier.

But don’t just react - proactively avoid overtiredness of your little one:

👀 Watch those signs: up to the age of 5 months, look out for those subtle cues your baby gives.

⏰ Time tt right: follow the age-appropriate awake windows that match your baby’s needs. Trust me, timing is everything!

🌙 Bedtime counts: Remember, bedtime rituals and falling asleep are also part of that awake window equation.

📵 Wind down gradually: 20-30 minutes before bedtime, ease off on the action. No more TV or loud music. Switch to calm activities like reading or gentle play.

Let’s talk about the magic of naps and why they’re crucial for your little one’s well-being:

⭐ Keep a watchful eye on the clock! The right start time for naps is pure gold, preventing those overtired moments. Check the awake times according to age of your baby.

⭐ Every baby dances to their unique rhythm. But staying on 2 naps until at least 15 months and on 1 nap until at least 3 years old can be the sleep magic that works wonders.

⭐ The first 2 naps are very powerful and after the age of 5 months you want to make sure they last at least 1 hour each, the first, a journey of emotional restoration; the second, a supporting act for physical growth; whereas the third is needed to prevent excessive overtiredness.
