Communication is often approached as a skill,
how to say things more clearly, more calmly, more effectively.

But there is a more fundamental layer.

If the nervous system is in a defensive state,
the capacity to listen, reflect, and take in what is being said is reduced.

In that sense, communication is not only about expression, but about whether there is enough regulation for exchange to happen at all.

This is often where conversations break down.

In the next post, I will look more closely at what happens when communication alone is not enough.

Self-validation is not self-indulgence. It is the ability to acknowledge your inner experience with honesty and care.
