🇭🇷 Croatia has officially declared 2025 as the Year of Pharmacy!

We are proud to share this important milestone from Croatia, recognizing the vital role of pharmacists in public health and the healthcare system.

The declaration coincides with several significant anniversaries for the Croatian pharmacy profession:
🔹 30th anniversary of the Croatian Chamber of Pharmacists
🔹 100 years since the establishment of the first Pharmacy Chamber on Croatian territory (Kingdom of SHS)
🔹 120th anniversary of the Croatian Pharmaceutical Society
🔹 130 years since the enactment of the first Pharmacy Law

Throughout 2025, a series of national events will take place under the patronage of the Croatian Parliament, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Croatian Health Insurance Fund, Croatian Institute of Public Health, academic institutions, professional societies, and international partners.

The Year of Pharmacy is both a symbolic and practical step toward further recognition of pharmacists as essential healthcare providers. In Croatia, over 4,500 pharmacists work in community and hospital pharmacies, academia, and healthcare institutions, making pharmacy one of the most accessible and impactful professions in healthcare.

We warmly invite our colleagues across Europe to follow these activities and celebrate this achievement with us.

EPhEU (European Association of Employed Community Pharmacists in Europe)

EPhEU (European Association of Employed Community Pharmacists in Europe) is the first European-wide organisation representing the interests of employed community pharmacists.

For national professional associations in member states of the European Union, it has become absolutely necessary to look across their national borders: for organisations representing the interests of employed community pharmacists, the European fundamental principles for regulations on working time, for studying pharmacy and for continuing professional development of pharmacists are as important, as the regulations about the freedom of establishment, the recognition of the professional qualification and those about distance selling.

Founded in 2012 (1st General Assembly on 30th June 2012), EPhEU will help the cross-border cooperation of national organisations representing employed community pharmacists. The exchange of information and experiences shall be intensified at periodical international meetings, to give a better response to subjects like mobility, working time directive and on-call-time, formation and continuing professional qualification of pharmacists.
