We would like to introduce our next speaker: Noble Laureate Prof. Thomas Südhof.

He is a German-American biochemist and is known for his study of synaptic transmission. He was given the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2013 for his work on vesicle trafficking.

Prof. Südhof is going to participate in our focus-topic "science" that addresses which challenges and opportunities shape the future of science – and how we can achieve more scientific excellence.

We are delighted to introduce our Vice-Chair of the Advisory Board of the Vienna Congress: the Nobel Laureate Prof. Dan Shechtman.

He was given the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2011 for his work that led to the discovery of quasicrystals. At the 20. Vienna Congress 2023 Prof. Dan Shechtman will speak about why we should teach science in kindergartens and technological entrepreneurship in universities.

First off, we would like to introduce you to Johannes “Hans” Oerlemans who received the Balzan-Prize 2022 on the subject of "Glaciaton and Ice Sheet Dynamics"

The Dutch climatologist who specialised in glaciology and sea levels made fundamental contributions on glaciation and ice sheet dynamics and their impact on the understanding of climate change and its mechanisms, which paved the way for more reliable predictions of ice sheet behavior and sea level changes.
