🧠 What if every European had the support to protect their brain health?
Just weeks ago on Brain Health Day (18 March), the Brain Health Mission, together with EAN, EBC, and FENS, brought scientists, patients, and policymakers to Brussels to explore exactly that. The day highlighted Europe’s urgent need for a coordinated, holistic approach to brain health, recognising that mental and neurological health are deeply interconnected and affect every aspect of life.
President Roberta Metsola reminded us of the stakes:
“On today’s Brain Health Day, we recognise the growing impact of neurological and mental health conditions and stepping up our commitment to brain health. Just in February, the European Parliament held a public hearing to put a spotlight on this crucial issue. Across our Union, we need a comprehensive, coordinated approach to address both mental and neurological health. For this we must strengthen research and innovation, step up prevention and care, improve support systems, and close the gaps in access to diagnosis and treatment. It is exhibitions like this one, that raise awareness and make a difference. I would like to thank the organisers, the Brain Health Mission and MEP Angelika Winzig for bringing this important event to the European Parliament.”
On 2026, her words are a reminder that brain health isn’t abstract, it’s personal. Prevention, research, care, and policy must work together because neurological and mental health conditions affect millions of lives, families, and communities across Europe.
Awareness is the first step. Conversation is the next. Action is what changes lives.
