It's on tomorrow! - Join us at the Open Space for an immersive Gong Bath and Buddhist Sutra with Gavin and Dimitri.

This sutra, called the Shurangama Mantra, an esoteric Buddhist sutra, is believed to have been given by the Buddha himself to his disciple Maitreya. It is an invocation of all the benevolent buddhas and bodhisattvas, and a dispelling of all negative entities. It contains many of the original premises that went on to create Buddhist philosophy, practice and culture.

ZÖJ returns to the Open Space next week with an intimate Deep Listening experience centered on Give Water to Birds, their hauntingly beautiful second album. Anchored by Gelareh Pour’s soul-stirring vocals and mastery of the khamancheh and qeychak alto, together with Brian O’Dwyer’s nuanced percussion, this album now unfolds further through the delicate guitar of Brett Langsford. His presence doesn’t just expand the soundscape - it subtly reshapes it, “shifting the light” and offering “new textures to ZÖJ’s intricate, intuitive world”.

Join us at 6.30 pm on 25 October for an evening that is not just performance - but a listening ritual. Let the intertwining of music, poetry, silence, and presence carry you into a quiet reckoning.

Join us this Sunday at the Open Space in Abbotsford, with Gavin and Dimitri for an immersive Gong Bath and Buddhist Sutra.

▶ 9:00am - Meditative Yoga w/ Karla
This class offers a gentle practice of simple asana and breathing practices to bring calm and clarity to the senses and facilitate the capacity to rest in present moment awareness. The class creates the foundation for meditation with the mind and body flowing in union. Suitable for all levels.

▶ 10.30am - Pure Yin w/ Karla
Our yin teachers are highly experienced and will guide you into the correct positions for maximum benefit in each pose. Great way to manage stiffness in the body and energetic blocks in a mind/body release via working on fascia and connective tissue. Breathing or pranayama practices may also be utilised to assist in the holding of postures. Pure yin is designed for all levels of practice.

▶ 9.00am - Hatha Yoga w/ Avril
This 75-minute Hatha Yoga class is designed for students who are looking to sustain their physical and mental wellbeing through regular practice. Each session begins and ends with a chant, creating a grounding and mindful framework. The practice typically includes a gentle warm-up, several rounds of Surya Namaskar (sun salutations), a blend of standing and floor-based postures, both static and dynamic and savassana (deep relaxation). Taught in a progressive style, this class offers a holistic experience that nurtures both body and mind, promoting relaxation, stability, and sustained wellbeing.

▶ 10.30am - Restore and Release w/ Avril
A restorative yoga class with some slow flow to warm the body and longer yin type postures to release tension to create a deep sense of connection to the body. The breath guides the movement with holds being supported through some props that create comfort. The postures are enabled through deep embodied connection. Some restful mindful contemplation integrates the practice to leave you feeling refreshed. Suitable for all levels of experience.

▶ 10.00am - Slow Deep Flow w/ Karla
This is a slow flowing yoga class which focuses upon foundational yoga postures and the integration of breath with practice. Suitable for all levels of practice. Beginners will build a somatic knowledge of the foundational postures in a supportive and nurturing environment. More advanced students will deepen the integration of breath and posture to create a deeper, more meditative practice.

▶ 5.30pm - Nourish Your Chi w/ Hien
This class offers a gentle mindful flow with Yin and Restorative asanas, nourishing deep relaxation & rejuvenation to release tension in the mind, body, and spirit. Withers is an emphasis on pranayama and meditative awareness and connection to your True Self (Purusha).
Hien will guide you to integrate East Asian medicine concepts such as acupressure points, meridians and Taoist Five element theory as well as the 8 limbs of Hatha yoga in a gentle, healing and accessible practice for students of all levels.
Honour and harmonise yourself by connecting your True Self in alignment with the way of Nature.

▶ 10.00am - Strength and Conditioning Flow w/ Emily
This is a flow class with focus on core strength and conditioning and to assist with pelvic floor, balance and improving posture. More than just a vinyasa class, this class will be specifically designed to be used for those who feel a lack of vitality or needing more energy. The class is best attended on a regular basis as each week will build upon the previous session to maximise benefits. Emily, being an experience body worker will also help with adjustments and alignments.

Start your morning with an upbeat vinyasa flow. We’ll begin with a dynamic flow to build our prana (life energy), then slow down with grounding poses to release tension. It’s a chance to connect with your body and mind in a balanced practice that sets you up for the day.

▶ 10:00am - Mat Pilates w/ Will

This class is designed to create a sense of well being and vitality through a combined approach of dynamic movements and the yogic breath work called pranayama.
Pranayama is an established, systematic approach to open the energy flow in the body and clear the mind. The yoga in this class will be dynamic yet gentle and focussed on the readiness for the practice of pranayama. Singing bowls will create an ambient and immersive back drop to the class.
Suitable for all levels of practice and best effects if you can attend regularly.
