Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) – what are they?

A range of inflammatory and degenerative conditions affecting the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, peripheral nerves and supporting blood vessels, WMSDs may be caused by a single workspace event, but commonly result from repeated harmful workspace activities over an extended period of time.

WorkSpace Week aims to reduce the occurrence and impact of WMSDs caused by physical stress, mental stress, repetitive work and poorly set up non-ergonomic workspaces. Chronic neck and back pain, shoulder stiffness and headaches can be linked to modifiable risk factors in Australian workplaces.

This WorkSpace Week (20-26 Oct), adjust your thinking to work well every day! Explore free resources, hints and tips at www.workspaceweek.org.au - because prevention is the best protection!

🌟 Supporting Your Body During Busy Days

Feeling the pressure of a busy week? Stress can sometimes show up as tightness in the neck, back, or shoulders, or make daily movement feel more challenging. While everyone experiences stress differently, there are ways to support your body and help you feel more comfortable.

💡 Tips for supporting your body during stressful periods:

✅ Pause and stretch: Even a few minutes can ease tension and improve circulation
✅ Check your posture: Small adjustments while sitting or using devices can make a difference
✅ Gentle movement: Activities like walking, stretching, or low-impact exercises can help you feel more relaxed
✅ Mindful moments: Deep breathing, short meditation, or simply stepping outside can support mental and physical wellbeing

At Aberfoyle Spinal Centre we can offer tailored support aimed at promoting comfort and helping people explore ways to manage stress through posture and movement.

📅 Book online or call us on 8358 6044 to learn how chiropractic care may support your body.

Chiropractic care isn’t just for when something hurts!

Your spine and nervous system are important for everyday movement and function. Chiropractic care focuses on assessing and managing areas of the spine and musculoskeletal system to support mobility and comfort.

Many people choose to include chiropractic care as part of their ongoing health routine. Some report that it helps them:

• Manage muscle tension
• Maintain movement in their joints
• Support daily comfort during work, exercise, or everyday activities

📞 If you’d like advice on ways to support your spinal health, call us on 8358 6044 or book online any time via our website.

❄️ Winter Is No Excuse to Stay Still!

As Chiropractors, we often notice more people mentioning neck and back discomfort during the colder months, and it’s not just the chill in the air.

When the weather cools down, many of us naturally become less active. More time on the couch, less movement, and stiffer muscles can contribute to feelings of tension or tightness in the spine.

👣 Movement is important - even in winter! Keeping your body moving may help to:
✔️ Maintain joint flexibility
✔️ Encourage circulation to muscles
✔️ Support posture (especially if you’re working from home or spending more time indoors)

You don’t need a full workout to stay mobile. A brisk walk, stretching, or gentle exercises at home can all be helpful.

If you’re experiencing ongoing aches or discomfort this winter, we’re here to provide advice and support.

📅 Book online or call us on 8358 6044 to discuss how we can assist you in maintaining your spinal health this season.
