Sometimes the grief isn’t for a person.
It’s for the version of you that no longer exists.

The one who survived in ways you no longer need to. The one who learned to cope, adapt, endure —
before there was space to soften.

There’s a strange ache in realising you can’t go back, even when you wouldn’t choose that version of yourself again.

And there’s tenderness, too, in not fully recognising who you’re becoming yet.

This kind of grief lives in the in-between.
Between who you were and who you’re growing into.

Between the familiar and the unknown.

If you feel disoriented, quieter, more reflective lately — it doesn’t mean you’re lost.

It means you’re shedding a skin that once kept you alive.

Be gentle here.
Identity grief is still grief.
And becoming takes time.
