Catching the wall ball in the bottom of the squat is all about efficiency, speed, and saving energy over high reps.
Here’s why it works so well:
1. You remove an entire movement (which = faster reps)
If you catch the ball standing, you then have to:
catch → pause → squat → stand → throw
When you catch in the bottom:
catch → immediately drive up → throw
You’ve basically cut out a whole phase, which over 50–100 reps saves a huge amount of time.
2. You use the ball’s momentum instead of fighting it
When the ball drops, it already has downward force.
If you catch high, you absorb that force and then have to create new force to squat.
If you catch low:
you ride the ball down
the momentum helps you hit depth easier
less muscular effort = more efficiency
