New national data on mental health shows that more people are arriving in crisis at EDs, and they are stepping up to provide vital care.

⭕ The top presentations are linked to substance use, stress disorders, and schizophrenia.
⭕ Waiting times are a growing challenge, with only 60% of patients seen on time.
⭕ Some states report ED stays lasting more than 10 hours for admitted patients.

Emergency Departments remain a crucial safety net, but the pressures are clearly stronger; community and early intervention services are essential.

Meet Dr Noha Ferrah, General Surgeon at Calvary Lenah Valley Hospital, Hobart. We are proud to welcome Dr Noha Ferrah (BMedSc/BSc, MD, FRACS) as one of the General Surgical on-call roster.

With a special interest in complex hernias and abdominal wall reconstruction, Dr Ferrah brings extensive expertise in:

🚑 A Night of Lifesaving Learning – Paramedic Talks Recap!

Last night's Paramedic Talks event at Calvary Adelaide Hospital was fantastic, with insightful sessions for SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) paramedics and our dedicated Calvary nursing team.

We heard from three outstanding experts:

✨ Dr Martie Botha shared essential insights into managing trauma in older patients using a Silver Triage Approach.
✨ Dr Dilyara Mulraney took us through ECG interpretation, uncovering key diagnostic clues and common mimics of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).
✨ Dr Sam Beneveniste explained referral pathways and access options for orthopaedic trauma patients within the public health system.
