I officially have just four weeks left of my clinical placement! I still have spaces for new and returning clients so if you’ve been thinking about making an appointment, now is the time!

You might be wondering what can be achieved in four weeks… Well, some of the results we’ve seen in that time include increased energy, less PMS and period pain, better stress response, reduced allergies, reduced reflux, less bloating, better and more regular bowel movements just to name a few!

I’m available all day Wednesdays and Thursdays (Thursday afternoons available for the next three weeks only).

Did you know that iron is the most abundant micro-mineral in the body? Iron is needed for many important processes, from transporting oxygen around the body in your red blood cells to participating in the enzymatic reactions that helps turn the amino acid tryptophan into serotonin (a neurotransmitter that’s important for your mood and sleep).

It’s recommended that adult women (aged 19-50 years) consume 18mg of iron per day, while adult men (aged 19-50 years) only require 8mg per day. It’s also important to note that the recommendation increases for women during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

Signs of iron deficiency include breathlessness, heart palpitations, pale mucous membranes around the eyes, irritable and restless legs, and cravings for ice or non-food items (e.g. clay). Iron deficiency can cause serious issues if left unaddressed!

Working with a nutritionist is a great way to assess your levels. We can provide a referral for blood tests to check your levels (interpreting iron results is an art in itself - a post for another day!), as well as conduct a thorough dietary assessment to help you optimise your intake and absorption (and identify any issues that may interfere with absorption).

Questions or comments? I’d love to hear from you in the comments or via DM 😊

Did you know that magnesium is a mineral involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body?!

Magnesium is one of the most common nutrients that we prescribe in clinic. Signs that your magnesium levels might be inadequate include muscle weakness and cramps, low appetite, nervous tension, depression premenstrual syndrome and bone weakness (keeping in mind that there can be many causes for these symptoms).

Magnesium comes in many different forms that have different rates of absorption and actions within the body. If you’re wondering if a magnesium supplement might be helpful for you, check with your health care professional or send me DM to arrange a consult.

Wondering what to expect in your initial consult? Your first appointment is 90 minutes which gives us time for a thorough health assessment. We’ll discuss your health concerns and goals, personal and family medical history, do a dietary assessment to get an idea of you like to eat on a regular day, review any relevant body systems and any medications or nutritional supplements that you use, and review other lifestyle factors like physical activity, stress and sleep. The treatment that we come up is approved by a supervisor and then negotiated with you. That’s why you’re at the centre of the diagram - this is your health journey and you’re the one who’ll be doing all the work! So, above all else, the plan that we come up with has to be achievable for YOU.

I currently have appointments available at Endeavour Wellness Clinic Adelaide on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
