Our friends at Eragon Disability Support had a fantastic adventure in late January! They enjoyed a private tour of the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service Headquarters, getting a glimpse into the incredible world of firefighting.
Their amazing guide, a Senior Fire Fighter, led them through the entire station. First, they explored the firefighters' recreational areas, complete with basketball courts, a gym, and relaxing break rooms. Imagine unwinding after a heroic rescue in such a comfortable space!
Next, they peeked into the firefighters' living quarters, seeing their private spaces and the spacious communal kitchen where they prepare meals to fuel up for action.
But the real excitement was undoubtedly the main truck bay! Everyone got up close to the various fire trucks, from essential fire engines to impressive high access ladders and rescue cranes. It sounds like there were plenty of questions and opportunities to explore these amazing vehicles throughout the tour. The group even got to witness firefighters in action out back, training and testing their crucial equipment.
At Eragon Disability Support, we're passionate about creating inclusive experiences that spark curiosity and connection within our community. This fire station tour was a roaring success, and we're already planning our next adventure! Stay tuned for upcoming activities like a trip back in time at the Adelaide Gaol, a wild day trip to Monarto Zoo, and a captivating Port River Dolphin and Shipwreck Cruise.
