‘GOOD VIBES’ : DAY RETREAT – ADELAIDE HILLS AYURVEDA & YOGA IMMERSION • Sunday 6th November, 2022

It’s so important to rediscover the little things in life that make you happy and not feel guilty, that help you to relax, slow down for a while and make life work for you as it needs to be. Our Day Retreat hit the right spot judging by the feedback from our relaxed and nourished guests who definitely were so much more relaxed by the afternoon.

Sunday was a fabulous day for all of us!

We had sunshine all day which was a treat for South Australians. Our program consisted of Relaxing Yoga • Pranayam • Walking Meditation • Simple Self Massage • Sound Bath Relaxation, with some healthy, nourishing food, and a variety of herbal teas and fresh juices for everyone to enjoy throughout the day.

We are so grateful to our hosts who kindly offered us their farm in the Adelaide Hills for the Day Retreat. This wonderful location allowed all of us to connect and sense our natural rhythm of being in a place that was so attuned to our own inner rhythm. Our minds and spirits were free to focus and to pause when needed. Conscious that our breath and our heartbeat are always there to remind us of life's pulsing rhythm that moves within and around us.

Thank you everyone, for your participation and commitment in making the day so successful for your own personal benefits. A true immersion of the body, soul and spirit.

Are you the passenger or the driver of the motions of your life?

Life is fast paced for most of us these days. Many of us openly say that we go through the day going from one task to another, ending up home with just enough time to wind down eat and go to sleep only to do it all again the next day. Sometimes the experience is exhilarating but it’s not sustainable when you’re sitting in the passenger seat and not the driver’s seat.

We get caught up in taking time to view the bigger picture. Simply asking yourself if you are happy with the course life is taking, think about the last time you did something spontaneous or thought about taking responsibility for pressing the reset button.

With this in mind, we have specifically designed a day retreat so you can tune back into your good vibrations to relax, heal within and open up your heart up and feel the joy of living well again.

Please join us…

Sunday 6th November, 2022
10.00am – 4.30pm
Is your basket feeling a little empty? Not much left to give? Are you tired, depleted, irritable and simply worn out? Do you often say to yourself “I just need some time-out, I need some time and space for Me, some time to simply Be” Well here’s the good news, that time is Now!

We invite you to join us for a day of relaxation, reflection and deep nourishment for the body mind and soul. Let us be your hosts and help you to reset the “Good Vibes” in you as we guide you through a delightful day-retreat designed just for YOU!

At the same time, we feel relaxed and capable of manifesting these visions without giving in to stress or struggle. Good vibrations put us in a state of perfect receptivity so that we feel it is the energy flowing through us that accomplishes what needs to be done. Healing Chronic Illness with Emotional

When healing from chronic illness, it is not just the physical body that needs attention. Our emotional and spiritual experiences also shape our well-being and ability to heal.

In this workshop, we will outline the emotional and spiritual components of the human experience from a Vedic understanding and how to use this knowledge of Prana (vital lifeforce) and subtle bodies (koshas) to return to our natural state of balance.

Additionally, we will explore possible emotional reactions often experienced while healing and/or cleansing and effective strategies to best manage this. A variety of meditations, practices and resources will be offered to help you better connect, strengthen and heal your emotional and spiritual self.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Guest Speaker Presentation: ‘Healing Chronic Illness with Emotional and Spiritual Awareness’ presented by Tamika Harrison.

Our total universal existence is initiated with three vital principals of energy of the universe: Wind, Sun and the Moon.

These principals of energy create the framework for the 5 Elements: Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth and 3 Doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha which are combinations of the 5 Elements.

The Panchamahabhutas

Pancha: Number five in Sanskrit
Mahabhutas: ‘One With Existence’

The 5 Elements are the building blocks of the universe. Ayurveda states that everything in the universe is composed of energy and exists in these five different states of density.

How the Elements were formed:

According to Ayurveda, everything originally consisted of pure consciousness, non-material energy.

From cosmic vibrations the most subtle element - Ether was formed. When it began to move it created the Air element.

Friction between moving elements gave rise to heat and the Fire element.

The fire melted and liquefied and created Water, some of which in turn solidified forming Earth.

Scientists have discovered that all functions of the human body are comparable in certain aspects to the phenomenon of the universe.

The human body is similarly composed of these five elements, reflecting the greater universe - it is the microcosm of the macrocosm.

The five elements exist together everywhere in all things, constantly changing and interacting in an infinite variety of proportions and each of them has a range of attributes.

The five elements are the building blocks of the universe. Ayurveda states that everything in the universe is composed of energy and exists in these five different states of density.

They represent five qualities of energy that we can recognise as we experience daily in our physical, mental and emotional lives.

The three doshas are at the heart of Ayurveda.

KAPHA DOSHA

A combination of water and earth, makes the Kapha dosha generally heavy and has solidity to it. Kapha is all about the structure. Form, protection, and also because of it’s watery aspect, we’re talking lubrication. So most of the body’s tissues (dhatus) are related very closely to Kapha because they predominant in earth and water elements.

The primary site of Kapha is the stomach. The chest or lungs produce phlegm, as do the throat, head, sinues and nasal passages which are also Kapha sites. The mouth and tongue produce saliva, another Kapha fluid.

Kapha Traits
•Think maternal, preparing food for everyone, totally unphased.
•Solid in stature, stable, attractive, loving, generous, tolerant, calm, compassionate. They’ve got that nurturing quality.
•Have a very good memory. Kapha types don’t necessarily grasp things quickly, but once they remember something they will never ever forget.
•Good fertility. Kapha is all about stabilising, good tissue development, good strong ojas, reproductive tissue.
•They are very sensual people, sexual appetite, good lovers. Pace themselves the way they need to.
•They have a very well developed body, tendency for weight gain. Broad chest, strong muscles and structure. Skin tends to be thick but soft. Bright, fair, milky complexion. Kapha bones are strong they tend to have think, lustrous hair. Nails are hard and thick, and tend to be whitish in colour. Big attractive eyes.
•When it comes to their metabolism and appetite, it tends to be steady. They don’t have a massive appetite, and it’s not scattered. It’s regular, on time, in moderation.
•Kapha types can sleep very deeply and for a long time. This is not always good because it can cause the Kapha to become imbalanced.

PITTA DOSHA

With fire, Pitta is going to have this sharpness to it, this capacity for digesting, but at the same time there is water there, so it’s almost like this fire is contained in this vessel of water. If we look at things like stomach acids, if we look at things like bile, these are Pitta substances, even though they are liquid like water, they have this sharp quality, that is capable of affecting digestion. So the main role of Pitta is digestion. You might think, how is that any different to Agni, Agni just cooks things, so imagine Agni being just the flame on the stove, Pitta has intelligence, it’s like the hand that turns that flame up or down. Digestion and metabolism.

The stomach and small intestine are the main sites of Pitta, where the digestive acids with their fiery nature create a storehouse of digestive activity. The liver, gall bladder, pancreas and spleen are also the seats of Pitta. The blood containing heat, colour and water is also another seat for Pitta. The eyes are the sense organ that belongs to the element of fire. Other sites include the skin, brain, sweat and sebaceous glands and the hormonal system. Pitta is excreted through the body via bile and acid.

Pitta Traits:
• Ambitious, courageous and usually make good leaders - often taking centre stage.
• Strong drive, ambitious, courageous, very passionate, sharp intellect, enjoy control, order and follow through.
• Don’t like heat. Especially humid heat. They will suffer in those kinds of conditions.
• Medium/slender frame, complexion is fair, freckles, moles can be present.
• Pitta guys tend to go bald early in life because of the heat that the body generates which can loosen hair follicles and so the hair falls more readily.
• Strong metabolism. Always have a decent appetite.
• Very competitive. A lot of sporting athletes are Pitta people. Especially team sports.
• They don’t feel the cold. Love the cold. They sleep well, they also sweat a lot.

VATA DOSHA

Vata governs movement within the physical body and is responsible for the discharge of all impulses both voluntary and involuntary. It controls the flow of blood, the elimination of waste products, the act of breathing and the movement of thoughts in the mind. It is considered the leader of the three doshas (energies or energetic principles in the body) as Pitta and Kapha cannot move or exist without it.

Vata is located in the head, ears, skin, hips and thighs, bones and joints, nerve tissues and mind serve as its containers. Vata works mainly through the brain and nervous system. Vata is the force that directs and guides the other humors because life itself derives from air.

Vata Traits:
• Angular features, usually a slim body. Taller or shorter than average.
• Complexion is generally dull, proned to discolourations and patches.
• Skin is cold, rough, dry and you can see their joints very easily. They tend to have dull sunken eyes, brittle nails and sparse thin hair.
• Bone porosity is usually less dense and therefore the waste and sub-tissues of their bones is going to be less substantial as well. Often fragile, dry and brittle.
• Vata people are more likely to be artists or musicians. They tend to be happy, creative, adaptable. Ability to grasp abstract concepts well but they can quickly forget.
• Appetite and digestion is irregular and variable. They have a preference for sweet food and drinks.
• They tend to sleep less. Their sleep is generally disturbed or wakeful. Very shallow.
• They tend to have poor circulation, cold hands and feet, quick mannerisms, fast in speech, fast walking.
• They also have a low tolerance for any kind of change. Wind, temperature, changes in climate/humidity, flying does not do well with the Vata constitution.
