Recently I finished an artwork over an 18 month process titled "ANIMUS" largely about the toxicity which showed itself in my life and the lives of people I loved
Forming over and over as perpetrator and victim of failure within the animus archetype both manifesting through the masculine but most prevalent through feminine human behaviours
During my Master Practitioner in early 2022, Jungian archetypes spoke acutely to me and I have been interested in the way they show up in relationships, communities and humanity on a broader scale
How does this paradigm become a problem?
Perhaps it's more helpful to take a look at how the unbalanced and unintegrated animus results in coming up against patterns within our relationships with both men and women, and how we relate to ourselves
For me, patterns since childhood were startling in experiencing competition, neglect, loss of protection, dishonesty, scapegoating and betrayal directly through the deeply unhealed animus affecting both sexes in the family system
Resulting, I believe, in addiction as an intergenerational trauma-response.
Since it was presented to me over my life to go deep into this through hard drug addiction at the end and the 12 step recovery system, healing has been necessary in wider scopes including shamanism and both receiving and then studying of psychology
"The unconscious is the dark being within that hears what our conscious ears do not hear, and sees what our conscious eyes do not see.
It allows those unnoticed impressions to grow and moulds them into self.
We only become aware of this unheard hearing, this unseen seeing, when the unconscious sends us these forgotten images in dreams and visions." --- Carl Jung
One incredible factor involved in the creation of my artwork including jewellery is the integration of these archetypal forces for wholeness and acknowledgement
