Feeling incredibly honored to be invited as a guest speaker at the ACHA Colorectal Education session hosted by . It’s a privilege to share insights on pre-op counselling, stoma site marking, and managing post-op stomal complications.

Tonight’s session is particularly special as I was speaking alongside Dr. Shanthan Ganesh, a dedicated Colorectal Surgeon, and Tommy, a brave patient who has recently journeyed through bowel cancer diagnosis and treatment.
It was an engaging evening of learning and sharing.

June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month in Australia!

At Stoma Care Services I’m dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of early detection, screening, and support for those affected by bowel cancer.

Did you know?🔸 Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in Australia.🔸 Regular screening can save lives—be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about your options.🔸 Early diagnosis significantly improves treatment outcomes.

As a Stomal Therapy Nurse, I’m committed to supporting individuals through their journey—whether recovering from surgery or managing their stoma with confidence.

Let’s spread awareness, encourage regular screenings, and support each other. Together, we can make a difference! 💙

As we close out 2024, it’s been a remarkable year for Stoma Care Services, marked by significant milestones and impactful outreach especially in our regional areas.

* Stoma Reviews - 1,091 stoma reviews
* Education Sessions - 3 regional education sessions, 21 Aged Care sessions and 2 Coloplast Masterclass
* Regional Clinics - 17 regional clinics
* Webinars - 2 international webinars
* Ostomy Support Groups - 5 Support Group appearances

Absolute highlight was my working holiday to Glasgow to attend WCET an amazing opportunity made possible by Salts Healthcare topped off by visiting their Nurse Academy and factory tour in Birmingham. Big thanks to Ainscorp for their support and making this possible.

Overall, 2024 has been a year of growth, learning, and community connection. I am so grateful for the support of our patients, associations and community. I look forward to building and expanding on these accomplishments in 2025.

Happy New Year to all.

Amanda
