Our Kilburn Inclusive boys are playing in the Grand Final for the SANFL Inclusive League this Saturday!

We need your support! We need as many people there as possible to cheer on our undefeated boys as they go for the premiership!

If you are participating in our Saturday group and want to come and watch, please let us know and we can organise an earlier finish to enable you to get there in time. If you aren't participating in our Saturday group and want to watch, please let us know and we can organise transport and supports to allow you to cheer on our boys!

AUGUST

In a month full of capacity building, friendships and skill development, here are some of our many highlights!

We gardened, cooked, shot hoops, attended the Gawler Show, did arts and craft, bowled, read books, and our Kilburn Inclusive boys kept their undefeated streak going to advance to the Grand Final!

INCLUSIVE HOLIDAY PROGRAM

The schedule for the upcoming holidays has arrived, and you can actively book your activities now via our website or by contacting us on 8285 3313 or intaketeam@empoweringfutures.com.au.

With a mix of day and evening activities, you can spend your holidays with us from 9am! Holiday program is a great way to form friendships and build capacity, as well as access the community and achieve NDIS goals. We offer a wide range of activities, varying daily, with a large group of participants engaging in our program every holidays.

With just over a month until the holidays begin, get in early and book your activities!

Our Kilburn Inclusive boys have gone a whole season undefeated, a testament to their hard work all year and commitment to the team... but now it goes up a notch!

This Saturday, Kilburn host Kenilworth in a Qualifying Final, in what should be a great game of footy. The boys would love as much support at home as possible, so head over to Blair Athol Reserve at 4:45pm to watch our boys fight for a Grand Final spot!

Social Groups

Want to be involved in a weekly group? Empowering Futures offers social groups where we promote social inclusion and community access, and aim to kick NDIS goals and develop independence.

Our weekly music group runs every Thursday afternoon for all ages and genders, in our main office from 3:30pm - 5:30pm. Connect with friends and sing and dance to your favourite songs, or play an instrument!

Our reach for the stars program runs every Tuesday from 11am - 2pm in the main office, and is based around expressing yourself through arts and craft. Enjoy a soothing, relaxing session in a small group, where conversations can be had and creations can be made.

On Saturdays, our day is full with activities! From 9:30 am - 2:30pm every Saturday during the school term, we have our Saturday social groups. There is a group for every age and gender, so you won't miss out. Come and meet people of similar age and interest, and form connections and build capacity with the support of our lovely team. For any kids that are wanting something to do on the weekend after a busy school week, or for those that have finished school wanting to develop social skills and access the community in the safety of our care, these groups are for everyone!

Inclusive Sports

Empowering Futures offers a variety of sporting options for you to participate in, either at a competitive level, or a completely inclusive and modified level, depending on your needs.

Inclusive football is for our higher-skilled footballers, training on a Monday night and playing on a Saturday afternoon for Kilburn's inclusive side. Adapted footy is our completely modified alternative, running Wednesday nights in line with the school year. The 2 hour session involves a training circuit to focus on individual skill-building, such as handballing, kicking, marking and bouncing, followed by an inclusive 9-a-side game on a smaller field, with no tackling and entirely contact-free.

We have 3 basketball teams currently running in the inclusive basketball league at Ingle Farm, spanning across two nights. Our competitive team for the higher-skilled basketballers is on a Wednesday night, while the modified alternative for the participants that require more support is on Thursday nights. We offer transport as well as team uniforms.

Lastly, our 10-pin bowling groups are the most popular of the options. Our participants love gathering on a Tuesday or Friday afternoon and hanging with their friends, expanding their social skill set and building capacity, while also testing their bowling skills and improving weekly. We can match you to a lane based on your skill level, and it is a very friendly and inclusive environment.

Congratulations to Hayden Berryman from Kilburn's Inclusive team on receiving the APM Sportsmanship Award!

Hayden is one of the coaches for our new Adapted Football program, and does a fantastic job teaching the participants basic skills and being a leader.

Sign up now for Adapted Footy! The sessions run on Wednesdays from 4pm - 6pm, in line with the school term.

JULY

As the year keeps flying by, our participants continue to work towards their NDIS goals one week at a time. 'Fly July' was no different, and with the additional Inclusive Holiday Program taking place during July, the month was packed with activities, new faces and smiles!

Our core support network continues to work with our participants to get them to where they want to be; whether it is developing independent life skills, accessing the community to build social skills, becoming part of a team in our sporting groups or just building capacity around people of similar age and interest with our social groups. Empowering Futures helps you feel safe, included, and confident.

Day Options & Mentoring

Empowering Futures offers supports for participants who have finished school and require daily support.

Day Options are a great way to come into the community in a safe and supportive environment. Called 'Mates Days' as they aim to bring people together to form lasting friendships of similar age and interests, these supports are available from 9am - 3pm, Monday - Friday, all year round. This program targets group supports and working together in various activities to build capacity.

Mentoring is our more individualized supports, and are completely driven by the participant. They can be in-home, or out in the community, based on what the participant would like to do for the day. Mentoring hours are flexible during the week, and can be done on weekends if the participant requires it.

Whether you need 1:1 assistance or you want to form connections in a group, Empowering Futures has supports to benefit your needs every day of the week.
