Understanding fertility labs is a game changer 🤓

Many of my clients come to me having what they believe to be “loads of blood tests”.

Majority of the time, though, basic, surface level testing is all that’s been completed. Meaning pieces of the puzzle are often missing, making it difficult to clearly see what’s really going on at a deeper level. 🧐

And what has been investigated hasn’t usually been interpreted through an optimal fertility-focused lens.

Factors that are commonly often overlooked, that can also impact results include:

🩸Timing of bloods (when in the day or when in the cycle)
🩸Conditions they were done in (fasted, length of fasting, exercise or alcohol)
🩸How they’re interpreted
🩸And how the results fit together to provide the overall picture

Standard Reference ranges are designed to detect disease, not determine optimal health and functioning.

Conception is more successful when the body is functioning optimally.

If you’ve been told you’re “fine” but you don’t feel confident in your results, this is exactly how I support my clients.

If you’re ready to look more closely at your results, comment “LABS” or book a discovery call via the link in my bio to find out how we can work together 💕

How many of these have you been told??

Living with endo can feel so debilitating, let alone trying to conceive.

⚡️Whether it’s dealing with heavy, painful periods that leave you doubled over.
🐡Bloating so bad you’re scared to eat.
😢Skipping meals because everything feels like it triggers a flare.
✂️Multiple surgeries. Endless appointments.
🫩The exhaustion that never really lifts.

And that niggling fear sitting in the background… what if I never become a mum? 🥺

Living with endometriosis isn’t just about painful periods.

It’s a whole-body condition characterized by inflammation, hormone imbalance, gut dysbiosis, immune dysfunction and nervous system overload.

And when you’re trying to conceive, it can feel like your body is working against you 😫

But here’s the truth 📣your diagnosis doesn’t have to define your fertility journey. As both a fertility nutritionist and pharmacist, I’ve helped countless women reduce inflammation, improve their egg quality and balance their hormones naturally. Not only optimising their fertility but also improving their quality of life!

With the right personalised approach, you can finally reduce your pain and flare-ups whilst improving your chances of fertility success — without restriction, fear, or constant doubt 🙏

Consistent ovulation isn’t just about “trying harder.”

This is something I often see in women trying to conceive.

They’ve already tried ⤵️
🍌Increasing calories 👉but food rules and tracking still exist
⚖️Put on weight (when necessary) 👉but not enough body fat to support hormone production 🏃🏼‍♀️Cut back on intense cardio workouts 👉but then walk for hours each day and strength train frequently 🧘‍♀️Tried to “do less” 👉 but then stress about not doing enough

So, on the surface things have changed, whilst underneath the brain and body still detect stress signals and perceived threat 🚨

Here’s what many women aren’t told 👇🏼

Ovulation isn’t just about eating more or training less. It’s about whether your body genuinely feels “safe” enough to reproduce.

Long periods of restriction, under-fueling, overtraining, blood sugar instability, or chronic stress can keep the brain in energy-conservation mode; interfering with ovulation and progesterone production. Even when things look “better” on paper 🧐

So while you might be doing more of the right things now, your body may still be cautiously, trying to catch up from months or years of elevated stress signals.

If you feel like you’re doing everything right but your cycles are still irregular and you’re struggling to conceive, it might be time to stop tightening the rules, and start looking deeper at supporting your foundations 🧠

This is exactly what I help women uncover and address inside my 12-week Fertility Boosting Program. ✨

If you’d like support understanding whats really happening with your cycles and what your body might be missing, I offer a free 20-minute discovery call where we can talk through your situation and whether personalised support is the right next step for you.

The problem with CD21 progesterone testing no one explains….

As a pharmacist and fertility nutritionist, this is one of the most common hormone testing mistakes I see when women are trying to conceive.

Women are told to to get their Progesterone levels checked via a blood test on “CD21” 🗓️

But that only makes sense if you ovulate on Day 14; and most women don’t.

Research shows only a small percentage of women ovulate on Day 14 (10-20%) and only around 13% of women have a textbook 28-day cycle.

So if you ovulate on Day 17, 18 or even later…a Day 21 progesterone test may completely miss your peak. 📈

You might be told your progesterone is “low”, when in reality, it was just tested too early 😰

Progesterone isn’t a calendar hormone.
It’s an ovulation-dependent hormone.

Ideally, it should be measured 7 days after ovulation, not on a fixed cycle day. 🩸🧪

This distinction matters, because mistimed testing can lead to:

😞Unnecessary stress😞Misdiagnosis of ovulation and luteal phase issues😞Confusion around cycle awareness.

The good news though, with the right knowledge and cycle awareness, your progesterone (and other hormones) can be tested accurately 🤩

When testing is timed properly, the result becomes far more meaningful, helping confirm ovulation, assess luteal function, and guide the right next steps

If you’ve ever been told to test progesterone on Day 21, this is your reminder to check 👉 Is that 7 days post ovulation “in my cycle”?

If you’re ovulating and still not getting pregnant, this might be the piece no one has explained properly 🤔

Ovulation isn’t the finish line. It reflects how well the entire cycle is functioning.

The second half of your cycle, the luteal phase, is when progesterone rises to prepare the uterine lining for implantation and early pregnancy.

And progesterone isn’t an isolated hormone. It reflects how the follicle developed leading into ovulation and how well the corpus luteum functions afterwards ✨

This is why I don’t just ask whether my clients have ovulated.

I look at luteal phase length, progesterone patterns, and whether levels are sustained long enough to support implantation.📈

Luteal phase issues are rarely random.

They’re often linked to upstream factors like LH signalling, prolactin, stress physiology, oestrogen excess, or metabolic health.

Fertility support shouldn’t stop at confirming ovulation.

What really matters is how the follicle developed before ovulation, as this determines corpus luteum function and progesterone output.

If your luteal phase is consistently under 12 days, it’s something worth paying attention to 🚨

💛 Save this so you can come back to it when reviewing your cycle patterns.

If you’re noticing signs like a short luteal phase and want help understanding what’s really driving it, this is exactly what we uncover inside my 12-week fertility program 🌟Where we investigate cycle patterns deeply and create a personalised plan to support ovulation and progesterone at the root.

Being told your hormones are “normal” can feel reassuring, BUT..
for many women trying to conceive, it also feels confusing, when your cycle and symptoms don’t feel normal.

🩸 Heavy periods⚡️ Pain that wipes you out😵‍💫 Breast tenderness, sugar cravings, mood swings

This is because hormones aren’t static. They’re rhythmic, cyclical, and deeply interconnected.

This is where a lot gets missed.

Most testing captures a single day in your cycle, but one blood test is just a snapshot of what your hormones were doing in that moment.

It doesn’t tell us how progesterone behaves across the luteal phase, whether ovulation was truly robust, or if hormones are rising and falling in the right rhythm or ratios.

🚨For example, progesterone might look “normal” at 7DPO, but decline too early to properly support implantation.

🚨Oestrogen might sit within range, but if your body isn’t clearing it effectively, it can be recycled and contribute to unwanted symptoms.

And conception relies on more than hormone levels on paper. It’s about production, metabolism, signalling, and resilience.

And those processes are influenced by things like gut and liver function, stress load, under-fuelling, nutrient status, and inflammatory conditions like endometriosis or adenomyosis.

This is why looking at hormones in isolation rarely gives the full picture.

Hormones are messengers that work in synchrony, with each other and with the rest of your physiology.ďż˝
Which is why patterns often reveal far more than a single lab value ever could.

Looking at trends across your cycle, like timing, temperature shifts, and symptom patterns provides a much more meaningful story.

So if you’ve been told everything looks normal, but your cycle tells a different story…you’re not imagining it!

That’s where interpreting the data differently and with the right lens, really matters.

How many of these have you had investigated??

You’ve done the tracking, changed your diet and lifestyle, taken the supplements, shown up to every appointment.

You’ve been told your bloods are “normal.” That there’s nothing wrong and to just keep trying (or jump straight to IVF 😒).

But here’s what most women aren’t told:

Standard fertility testing only scratches the surface.
The basic panels look at whether things fall within a “normal” range, but normal doesn’t always mean optimal.

And it definitely doesn’t tell you what’s happening beneath the surface.

Things like low grade, chronic inflammation, gut and vaginal microbiome imbalances, how your body is actually absorbing and using nutrients, thyroid function beyond TSH, oxidative stress, immune dysregulation, or chronic stress patterns that impact hormones on all levels.

These are the barriers that routine care doesn’t always explore.

Not because your doctor doesn’t care, but because conventional testing wasn’t designed to look this deep.

When you start investigating the root causes, not just surface level markers, answers start to emerge.

The confusion lifts, the constant second-guessing eases and you finally have a clear direction forward.

If you’ve been doing everything right but still don’t have answers, it’s not because there aren’t any. It’s because no one has dug deep enough YET and helped you connect the dots 🧐

If you’re ready to you look deeper and explore what standard testing might be missing, send me a DM 📥

Not all fertility advice is helpful…

Trying for a baby shouldn’t mean trying everything you see online.

But I see so many women doing exactly that. Following advice that sounds helpful, but often isn’t evidence-based or coming from someone truly qualified to guide you.

And the problem is… generic fertility advice can quietly work against you.

It can lead to cutting out foods that actually support your fertility, focusing on the wrong priorities, and missing the real drivers behind why it’s not happening yet.

Because fertility advice isn’t one-size-fits-all.
And surface-level advice rarely uncovers what’s really going on downstream.

You deserve more than guesswork, trial and error, or a plan that isn’t right for your body and fertility.

What actually moves the needle is a personalised, evidence-based approach. One that looks beyond standard testing, identifies root causes early, and gives you a clear plan forward before jumping straight to IVF.

When you truly understand your body, you stop spinning your wheels, and start making real progress.

Valentine’s Day usually looks like this 💐🍫💘

And honestly, most of us love it 🥰

Bonus points for your man if he goes to such effort 😍🔥

But when you’re trying to conceive, Valentine’s hits a little different.

Suddenly the things that feel most romantic, aren’t always the obvious ones.

Things like 👇🏽

💦Him actually caring about his s***m health
🌈Getting on board with diet + lifestyle changes
🙅🏽Skipping the hot tubs + late nights
🧪Being open to testing

And reminding you that you’re in this together ❤️

TTC has a way of shifting what “effort” looks like. And when both partners contribute equally on their journey, everything feels a little lighter 🫶🏼

If you’re navigating fertility as a couple and want guidance that supports BOTH of you, that’s exactly what I help with 💕

Share this with your partner as a very subtle V-Day hint 💌🤪

Here’s the thing….

Your fertility journey won’t change because you push harder or do more.

It changes when the right areas are finally supported AND the full picture is taken into account.

I often see women who have been told everything looks “normal”, yet their body is clearly under stress in ways that don’t always show up on routine tests.

😵‍💫Their nervous system is stuck in fight-or-flight.
🥷Cortisol is hijacking progesterone production
🍬Blood sugar chaos is throwing off hormone balance
🔥Gut dysbiosis is causing Inflammation and immune dysfunction, impacting egg quality, hormones, ovulation & implantation.
🦋And a normal TSH, hides the fact thyroid function is suboptimal, impacting hormones & the menstrual cycle.

There’s rarely one single cause or one quick fix. Because fertility is influenced by the health of your WHOLE BODY and everything is interconnected 🕸️

When you look beyond surface-level results and finally understand which foundations need support, the rest responds fast.

Just as importantly, having the right support in place to help you uncover the root cause to your fertility struggles is a game changer!

So you finally gain clarity, knowing exactly what to fix and how. And you can stop trying to piece everything together on your own.

What you eat on a regular basis can positively influence your fertility more than most people realise.

Your nutrition and the foods you consume consistently can help to support:

✨ Hormone production & balance
✨ Egg & s***m quality
✨ Gut health, immune function & inflammation
✨ Ovulation, implantation & a healthy pregnancy

These are some of my favourite fertility fueling foods you’ll find inside my fridge and what I recommend to include as part of an overall nutrient-dense, whole food dietary pattern. These aren’t “superfoods” and it’s not about having to eat perfectly.

These are just simple, nourishing staples that consistently give your body the nutrients it needs to function optimally 🤗
