Not sure how much sunscreen to apply? ☀️ A guide for adults is to follow the one teaspoon rule! 🥄

Most of us don’t apply enough sunscreen, which means we’re not getting the protection we think we are. Remember to reapply every two hours, and more often if you’re swimming or sweating 🏊‍♂️

Pair sunscreen with other sun-safe steps like a hat, sunglasses, protective clothing and seeking shade. This is your best protection against sunburn and potential skin cancer.

Want to check if your sunscreen meets Australian standards? Look for an ‘AUST’ number on the label.

As Registrars, Dr Kris Overduin and Dr Gurjot Gandhara were only with us at Southern Clinic for 12 months.
Dr Kris’s final day with us is Friday the 23rd of January and Dr Gandhara’s is Friday the 30th of January.
Throughout their time at Southern Clinic both Doctors have provided outstanding care to our patients and will be thoroughly missed. We wish them the best moving forward as they begin their next rotation as Registrars and furthering their careers as Doctors.

Stay safe over these next few days ☀️🧢💧🪭

Extreme heat can make you feel unwell and may lead to dangerous heat-related illnesses. Symptoms of heat-related illnesses include dizziness, headaches, nausea, thirst, or vomiting.

To stay safe, drink plenty of water and avoid going outside during the hottest parts of the day. Check in on loved ones regularly, especially older adults and pregnant people. Keep cool indoors with a fan or air-conditioner.

Remember to wear light-coloured, loose-fitting clothing and, if you’re going outside, wear a hat, sunglasses and plenty of SPF 50+ sunscreen.
