Hepatitis B is a liver infection that affects more than 220,000 Australians, including 12,000 people living in South Australia.

Often there are no symptoms. In fact, 3 in 10 people living with hepatitis B don’t even know they have it.

If left unmanaged, it can lead to scarring of the liver (cirrhosis) and liver cancer.

Thankfully, hepatitis B can be prevented with a safe and effective vaccine. So, if you or your family haven’t been vaccinated for hepatitis B, don’t wait. Speak to your doctor about getting vaccinated.

For people living with hepatitis B, check-ups every 6 - 12 months are key to living a long and healthy life.

If you need help finding a GP, call Hepatitis SA on 1800 437 222 for a referral.

Whether you are setting up the fireplace, snuggling in with a hot drink, or cooking up a feast in the kitchen, there can be risks of minor burns.

Most burns will heal themselves in 10 to 12 days. If the burn doesn’t have any blisters, a simple moisturiser such as sorbolene is the best treatment.

For all other burns, seek medical advice for appropriate dressings.
