At SAPMEA, we are proud to be a key training hub for EMET in South Australia, helping equip healthcare workers in regional and remote communities with the skills and confidence they need to provide critical care in emergencies.
Did you know there are more than 600 emergency departments (EDs) and urgent care centres across Australia, but just 25 percent are currently staffed by emergency medicine specialists?
Completing EMET sessions allows participants to help their communities access much-needed clinical services closer to home, improve the quality of emergency care, and respond effectively to serious clinical incidents and major traumas. Since 2011, EMET has supported 59 hubs across the country, delivering training to over 540 regional, rural, and remote health services.
We urge the Australian Government to continue supporting this essential program, as without sustained funding beyond 2025, we risk losing the ability to provide life-saving training to our regional healthcare workforce.
