Our technology skills mentor has been working with one of our amazing participants to help him launch and grow his YouTube channel, 1980s Neon Electrik! 🎥✨

Len has a truly impressive (and growing!) collection of treasures from the 1980s and showcases his latest finds in cool weekly videos.

Together with his mentor, Len is mastering the art of video and audio editing, learning to use new equipment and techniques, and collaborating on creative titles, thumbnails and YouTube Shorts.

Anyone who has met Lauren can agree that she’s truly a ray of sunshine - radiating warmth, positivity and unwavering dedication to bringing out the best in the people around her.

A particularly touching moment recently was when one of our participants asked Lauren to accompany her to her year 12 formal. Initially she wasn’t planning to attend, feeling nervous and unsure because she didn’t know anyone in her year level. With Lauren’s encouragement and support, she found the confidence to embrace this milestone and give herself permission to enjoy the experience she truly deserved. The girls went dress shopping, got ready together, and shared an unforgettable night!

Lauren’s dedication to doing impactful work is truly inspiring. Every activity she engages in with her participants is infused with teachable skills and life lessons, demonstrating her commitment to seeing them grow, both personally and emotionally. She never shies away from tough conversations and has a knack for transforming sticky situations on the fly; ultimately creating uplifting and growth-oriented experiences for everyone she works with.

Lauren's empathy and care for others - while expertly managing boundaries to protect everyone’s wellbeing - is unmatched, and are just some of the many reasons she’s an irreplaceable part of Creativ Minds!

🌻 Do you know about the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower? It's an international symbol of awareness for those with hidden disabilities, like autism, anxiety, and chronic pain. It promotes awareness and inclusivity, allowing individuals with hidden disabilities to navigate public spaces with greater ease and support.

Wearing the Sunflower lets others know that you (or someone with you) has an invisible disability and might need a little extra assistance, patience and understanding while navigating public places such as shopping centres and airports.

🛍️ You can pick up a lanyard or wristband at the Concierge desk of most Westfield Shopping Centres!

🎨 If you find arts and crafts soothing but struggle to make the time for it, our Mentor Alaire suggests creating a small art and craft self-care kit!

🧺 Find a basket or small box, add in a few different craft projects, soothing activities, fidgets and anything you might need to keep your hands busy and your mind calm. Keep it next to your bed or by the couch, so when you’re bored, overstimulated or want to do something creative, you already have a basket of activities easily accessible!

🍀 Alaire says this takes the overwhelm out of going through all of your craft boxes, which means you’re more likely to make time for it in the moment :)
