A recent ABC News report shows Sydney teenagers experiencing the same kind of homophobic violence we’ve been seeing across the country, including in Victoria and South Australia.

For many LGBTIQA+ people, this can make everyday life feel less safe — especially online and on dating apps.

If you’ve been affected, you’re not alone. Thorne Harbour Health can help, with fast-tracked services and guides on support and reporting.

South Australian Police (SAPOL) recently launched a revised LGBTIQA+ Strategy which includes updates to the LGBTIQA+ Liaison Officer Program.

Thorne Harbour Health was one of the organisations consulted in developing this strategy alongside SA Rainbow Advocacy Alliance, SHINE SA, and The Equality Project - Australia.

We’re hopeful that this strategy helps SAPOL better understand the needs of our diverse communities in South Australia and respond appropriately.

Last week in Adelaide, we launched Innovate – our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) which sets out practical steps to embed reconciliation across our organisation.

🖤 Reconciliation shapes how we work in South Australia as we work with our local diverse communities, and navigate unique histories and relationships.

💛 The plan includes hosting and participating in NAIDOC Week and National Reconciliation Week, offering free THH memberships to Rainbow Mob at key times, and embedding anti-racism and cultural learning throughout the organisation.

❤️ These initiatives ensure our services are culturally safe and our practices reflect the diversity of our communities.

A special thank you to Robert Taylor Cultural Services for your Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony at this launch.
