We co-hosted a powerful Refugee Week yarning circle with AMRC and PEACE, fostering connection and shared strength among multicultural communities. πŸ³β€πŸŒˆπŸ³β€πŸŒˆπŸ³β€πŸŒˆ

Participants said cultural safety was truly felt!

We are looking for volunteers to facilitate Sustainable Style and make a significant contribution to the health and wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ people, and people living with HIV (PLHIV).

We want to build the capacity for six community members who will take on the role of peer leaders for the project. Volunteers will undertake fully funded training in cultural safety and inclusion, first aid, food safety, and basic machine maintenance.

Read more at the link in the comments or email THHSA@thorneharbour.org with a brief note on why you’d like to volunteer and your availability.

πŸ’›πŸ€πŸ’œπŸ–€ Today (and every day) we celebrate non-binary people in all their diversity.

From resisting gendered healthcare barriers, to creating safer spaces and leading change across our communities, non-binary people are part of shaping our collective future.

42 years strong! πŸŽ‚

Founded by volunteers in response to the emerging HIV/AIDS crisis, Thorne Harbour Health was built on a legacy of activism, a legacy that still drives us today.

Over the years, we’ve evolved to meet the most pressing health needs of our communities. Despite funding cuts and a shifting global landscape that deprioritises HIV services, we continue to grow.

In the past year alone, we’ve expanded our mental health, family violence, and financial counselling services, meeting rising demand during a cost-of-living crisis.

We remain accountable to the communities we serve and are committed to building an adaptable, community-led organisation, whatever the future may hold.

Help Write the Book on HIV in South Australia πŸ“š

Writing Ourselves In is a year-long project led by Thorne Harbour Health to document and celebrate the history of HIV in South Australia β€” and we’re inviting community members to get involved in one of three key ways:

πŸ”΄ PLHIV aged 50+
Join a monthly workshop series to develop skills in oral history, archival research, and writing and share your lived experience. No prior experience needed β€” just your voice.

🟠 Younger PLHIV
Take on a supporting role: assist with research, listen to community stories, and help preserve this powerful legacy for future generations.

🟑 Story & Archive Contributors
Got old photos, documents, flyers, or memories to share? We’re collecting materials from across the community to help shape the final work.

At the end of the project, all of this work will come together in a professionally published book, launched in 2026.

πŸ—“οΈ First workshop: Friday 8 August 2025, 11am–3pm
πŸ“ 57 Hyde Street, Adelaide (lunch provided)

We were proud to attend the Naidoc South Australia Community Awards! πŸ†πŸ–€πŸ’›β€

This annual event celebrates Aboriginal excellence by recognising the achievements of community leaders, elders, educators, and youth.

This year's theme, β€œThe Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” highlighted intergenerational leadership and a commitment to reconciliation in South Australia.

Attendees loved our Rainbow Mob fans and key rings too!

And in our final video from the Pride Gala, our Director Rebecca, gives her thoughts on what it means for us to serve our communites in Adelaide.

Until next year! πŸ‘‹πŸ€©πŸ³β€πŸŒˆ

National NAIDOC Week is here.

It’s a time to celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across this country.

At Thorne Harbour, this week is also about recognising Rainbow Mob as an integral part of our LGBTIQA+ communities.

There are so many ways to get involved, whether that’s a community launch, panel discussion, or art exhibition.

πŸ“Œ This year's poster 'Ancestral Lines' is by Jeremy Morgan Worrall: it's a visual representation of the lines and ties that follow a generation and the songs that come with it.
