Yesterday we also officially congratulated our beautiful Issy and El on finishing their final Speech Pathology placements 🤍 we are so fortunate to have both girls transitioning into full-time Speech Pathologists with us for 2026, and have no doubt that they will continue to make a difference in the lives of the many families we support. We feel so lucky to continue to have them as a part of our therapy team!

Congratulations girls - we are all so excited to have you in the office more coming into term 4 🥳

Today we have celebrated our lovely Speech Pathologists Beth and Claudia’s two years of work with us at Chatterbox Therapy Services 🤍 both girls have beyond succeeded in continually pushing themselves to grow in their development as a clinician, always supporting others, and continuing to achieve goals with their clients (and their families) over these last two years.

We feel more than lucky to have both Beth and Claudia on our team - thank you both for everything you continue to do 🥰

Welcome to our lovely Administration officer, Matilda 🌼

Matilda comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the administration field. She is warm, motivated, friendly and efficient, and we have no doubt she will be a fantastic new addition to our therapy team!

She will be working with us on Mondays - Thursdays, greeting our families and supporting with all things behind the scenes.

🥄 Why we love using utensils in feeding therapy (and at home!) 🥢

Utensils aren’t just for eating — they’re powerful tools to support your child’s journey with food. They:
✨ Build fine motor + oral motor skills
✨ Allow safe, pressure-free exploration from a distance
✨ Help children manage food in the mouth (scooping, poking, placing on molars for chewing)
✨ Reduce pressure by offering indirect contact with tricky textures

By using utensils as “extensions of the hand,” children can interact with food in a comfortable way, gradually building confidence and moving through the steps of eating — without the stress of direct touch. 💛

Looking for ways to make reading more engaging and support your child’s language development? Try these easy strategies:
👀 Before Reading
• Look at the cover and pictures together
• Predict what the story might be about
📖 During Reading
• Take turns reading or pointing to words
• Use and model rich language
• Ask open-ended questions: “Why did they do that?”
• Use pictures to help understand new words
• Pause to summarise or explain tricky parts
🧠 After Reading
• Talk about the story together
• Encourage your child to retell it in their own words
• Connect the story to real-life experiences
• Review and repeat new words

Over the holidays, our wonderful Speech Pathologist Zoe shared about Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), some key features, and some really helpful strategies for children that present with a PDA profile 📋

PDA is yet to be considered a formal diagnosis, but knowing who may fit this criteria, and how we can best support children and their families can make a HUGE difference to ‘power struggles’ and supporting our children to feel safe and in control 👧👦

🧠💬 “Kids do well if they can.”
This is such a powerful reminder from Dr. Ross Greene.
When a child is struggling, it’s not a matter of won’t - it’s often a matter of can’t yet. It’s not about a lack of effort, but a need for support, understanding, and the right tools.
Instead of asking, “Why won’t they just listen?” we need to ask, “What’s getting in the way?”

That’s why we work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and a multidisciplinary team to understand each child’s unique strengths and needs. Together, we can build the environment, strategies, and support that help every child grow at their own pace, in their own way. 💬🧩✨

Because when we listen, adapt, and work together, amazing things can happen 💛

✨ Chatterbox Therapy Services is on the look out for a warm, friendly and efficient Administration Assistant to join our Speech Pathology practice and team ✨

✨ About the Role ✨
We are seeking a permanent part-time administration and allied health assistant to join our friendly, welcoming team at our Torrensville clinic.

We are requiring someone with availability at a minimum of 4 days per week, 8am - 3pm.

This role would ideally suit someone who has previous experience within allied health settings, is an efficient worker and is able to take initiative to ensure tasks are prioritised and completed to a high standard.
