Imperfection. Goes hand in hand with being human and yet many of us struggle to accept our imperfections as they manifest day in day out. Meditating with compassion allows space to embrace your perfectly imperfect nature. Case in point, with young children and a part time job, my daily meditation practice fluctuates. Sure, meditation teachers “should” practise without fail every day. But here’s some honest vulnerability for you. I aim to incorporate a mindfulness activity every day. This doesn’t always look like the perfect pose on the cushion in silence. It can look like meditation music 🎧, quick journalling, pausing in silence before diving into the next appointment AND where I can, savouring my time on the meditation cushion. A recent addition is using the time where my youngest wants me to sit with her until she sleeps as the perfect time to meditate rather than feeling frustrated about what else I could be doing next on my list. I’m present with her and myself. So give yourself permission to be imperfect and do the best you can with what you have riding the ebbs and flows of your day to day. And when you do have some extra time look up some of my Insight Timer recordings for compassion focussed meditations just for you 💫🫶🏻🌊
