For those who don't know already, I am slowly closing my business down.

I won't be engaging in much 1:1 direct practice at all and have transitioned the majority of my wonderful caseload over to new workers/practitioners. This is partly due to my own chronic health conditions and also my caring role. My daughter is off to high school next year and I need to be able to be 100% supportive of this change and that will mean being home more than at work - a change that a beautiful PDA soul like my daughter needs from her Mum to feel safe in such a big life transition.

My main "job" now is working at Flinders university which I love - but I also love providing training where I can or educating people and I still want to engage in my local community.

This has been a long much needed transition, and I have done it slowly enough to make sure everyone has been handed over in the best way possible.

I am now moving into providing education through webinars/workshops and trainings through 'the neuropathways collective'. I am slowly building a website and page for these and then I will be shifting over there.

I look forward to a welcome rebrand and change to less 1:1 direct practice for the time being - feel free to like/follow me at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578323736939

I'm going to be running some parent/guardian/carer information sessions in south adelaide, and I want to find:

- Speakers on topics around disability/mental health/different organisations private/NDIS who would talk about a specific topic that may be of interest to parent/guardians/carers of their young children/youth in supporting their disability/mental health.

- A sponsor who is interested in sponsoring a small event - there will be 6 events in the first series - you can sponsor one, some or all. A sponsor means I can make the sessions free.

- Topics that as a parent/guardian/carer you'd want to find more out about - NDIS, a NDIS role (SC/certain practitioner), PDA, emotional regulation strategies, movement (exercise physiologist or physio), school support etc

If interested in sponsoring email on rachela@sswcsadelaide.com

Thanks!

Just Listening Therapeutic Community is open weekday 10am - 4pm.

You are welcome to come and spend time in the community as an alternative or addition to other mental health wellbeing supports. This a free walk service provided by professionals and others trained in Just Listening.

The community facilitates a space for connection with others.

Just Listening groups run daily. 1-1 times can be offered.

No referral needed and anonymity is welcome if that's of value to you.

Its been a very wonderful first week.

From recent research published about the approach:

"Just Listening was first pioneered at the Humane Clinic in
Australia in a community based setting as alternative crisis response to traditional medical responses to mental health crisis which may involve sectioning, medicating or sedating, and shown to be an effective response to human distress, with those who visited the centre in distress experiencing relief by the end of their JL session".

Some children experience the world in a way that feels too much or not enough.

These are signs of Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) – when the brain struggles to organise and respond to information from the senses.

Recognising these signs is the first step to understanding and supporting a child’s needs.

EXECUTIVE FUNCTION VERSION COMING TOMORROW

A sensory processing checklist is available in NOW AVAILABLE - only Β£3.25 until 15 September 2025.
