Spring asks us to open gently, the way blossoms unfurl after the quiet of winter. 🌱

In yoga, we can use this same rising energy... the breath moves more freely, the chest and shoulders open, and the body softens into new space. And also, allow yourself to notice when there is resistance.

I love how this season invites us to stretch a little further, breathe a little deeper, and welcome in a sense of renewal. ✨

Today I spent the day with Swami Yogakanti, author of Life and Death Full Circle in the Satyananda Yoga Tradition.

We moved between meditation, uplifting mantra and kirtan, and a beautiful, long Yoga Nidra. The discussions were open and real. The fact that death is certain for everyone, and how that truth, rather than being fearful or morbid, can be a guide for how to live with greater clarity, compassion, and presence.

We shared lunch together. Big pots of soup, and the blueberry and banana sourdough muffins I brought along! Simple, nourishing food made with care.

It was a day that wove together practice, reflection, and community. A timely reminder that yoga is not only what happens on the mat, but also in how we live and connect.

The pace slows, the light softens, and our bodies ask for a different kind of care.

Gentle movement, breath, and quiet time on the mat can feel especially nourishing in this season... like a small sanctuary in the week.

I hold space for this each Monday morning in Christies Beach and Tuesday evening in Westbourne Park.

Remember, asana is a form of self-care. It’s a way to give yourself permission to pause, to breathe, and to soften. Whether you’re holding a pose for a few breaths or flowing gently through a series, every movement offers a moment of mindfulness.

Start your year with gentle, mindful yoga designed to ease tension, connect body and mind, and bring a sense of presence and calm into your week.

Whether you're new to yoga or have been practicing for years, these classes are a space to breathe, move, and simply be. No need to be able to touch your toes, wear fancy gear, or keep up with anyone else – this is your time, at your pace.

🗓 Classes resume in 2025:
📍 Mondays, 11am-12:15pm – Take a Moment in Time, Christies Beach
📍 Tuesdays, 6pm-7:15pm – Richmond Rd Memorial Hall, Westbourne Park

Bookings are essential – simply bring a mat, a blanket, and maybe a cushion to sit up on.

Did you know that the way you breathe can change how you feel, right here and now? In Satyananda Yoga, breath isn’t just something we do automatically—it’s the bridge between mind, body, and awareness.

When we focus on the breath, we connect to the present moment, even amongst the chaos or busyness of life. 💖 In Love Yoga with Zoe's classes, we explore simple breath techniques (like ujjayi, viloma or diaphragmatic breathing) that help to calm the nervous system and balance our energy.

🌟 When your mind starts racing, come back to your breath. Inhale deeply through your nose, feeling the rise of your belly, chest and upper chest. Exhale slowly, releasing any tension. This is your tool for instant presence. 🌙

Remember, you don’t have to “perfect” the breath—just notice that you are breathing - and let it flow with intention. 🌱

💤 Dive into Deep Relaxation with Yoga Nidra 💤

Have you ever wished you could just switch off and reset? Yoga Nidra, or “yogic sleep,” is a powerful practice in Satyananda Yoga that allows you to reach a state of deep relaxation—preferably without falling asleep! 😴

In this practice, we guide the body and mind into a state of conscious rest, where healing happens on a deep level. It’s not about doing or achieving anything. It's about allowing yourself to simply be and experience peace. 🌙

🌸 In your first few sessions, you might find your mind drifting. That’s okay! Just let go of any expectations. Yoga Nidra is about trusting the process and allowing your body to release tension, one layer at a time.

Give yourself permission to relax deeply. You deserve it. 🌿
