When life breaks you, it is because you are ready to be put back together differently.
Every piece of you that feels shattered is a piece that will find a new place, a new purpose, a new meaning. Trust that the cracks are where the light gets in.
And sometimes, in our brokenness, we find our greatest wholeness.
We find the courage to rebuild, to reimagine, to redefine what it means to be strong.
You are not broken; you are breaking through ..

One of my favorite breathing techniques that will help calm you down in the heat of the moment is 16 Seconds.

It’s perhaps the easiest breath practice that we can do:

1. Breathe in for four seconds
2. Hold for four
3. Exhale for four
4. Hold for four

And that was 16 Seconds! For those 16 seconds, your attention was not in the past, nor was it in the future. Your awareness was in the present moment. And in the present moment there is no fear, no sadness, no anxiety, no worry—no anger or irritation. There is only the now. And you get to step into this moment with less emotional turbulence, less constriction, greater calm, and greater ease.

Practicing 16 Seconds has the power to lower your blood pressure and heart rate, increase your lung capacity, calm yourself down, and most importantly it connects you to the present moment.

Try it right now - close your eyes and take a long, slow deep breath in, hold it, and then let it go. Notice how your entire energy field shifts just from these 16 Seconds!

Welcome to my ‘Weekend Mantra’ series! I’ve been sharing a mantra with you each Friday that you can carry through the weekend.

The word mantra comes from two Sanskrit words: man, which means “mind,” and tra, which means “vehicle or instrument.” So our mantra is our mind vehicle . . . our mind instrument. It is a tool to transport the mind from a state of activity to one of quieting down into stillness and silence.

This weekend we are going to dive into yam ritam, which means ‘I am in the rhythm of love’.

Let’s take the energy of this mantra into our heart center. To find your heart, or anahata, chakra, simply place your hand on your heart. That’s where your loving energy radiates from. This is your center of compassion. This is where your abilities to be at peace, love unconditionally, trust in the divine, and, most important, to forgive, reside. This includes not just forgiving others but forgiving yourself as well. Its color is green – and with each breath – feel a green pulse of pure love wash through your body.

Take this mantra into the weekend with you - you can chant it silently to yourself while in meditation, or you can also repeat it to yourself whenever “life” starts to get in the way, so that you remember your wholeness and highest potential.

Welcome to my new ‘Weekend Mantra’ series! Over the next several weeks, I’ll be sharing a mantra with you each Friday that you can carry through the weekend.

The word mantra comes from two Sanskrit words: man, which means “mind,” and tra, which means “vehicle or instrument.” So our mantra is our mind vehicle . . . our mind instrument. It is a tool to transport the mind from a state of activity to one of quieting down into stillness and silence.

This weekend we are going to dive into om mani padme hum, which means “the jewel of the lotus.”

Om mani padme hum is a Sanskrit expression meaning “the jewel of the lotus.”

The lotus flower has been revered in numerous ancient cultures, religions and texts and is a symbol of rebirth, transformation, resilience, purity and creation.

One of the most beautiful aspects of the lotus flower is the fact that it emerges unstained from the depths of muddy and murky water. We can use this symbolism to remember and know that it is possible to bloom after going through challenges in our lives. And in fact, it may be the very challenges that we face in our lives that allow us to grow into the beautiful expression we are meant to become.

Take this mantra into the weekend with you - you can chant it silently to yourself while in meditation, or you can also repeat it to yourself whenever “life” starts to get in the way, so that you remember your wholeness and highest potential.

And always remember - no mud, no lotus. 🪷 🪷 🪷 🪷 🪷
