We stayed in Coober Pedy for one night and then hit the Oodnadatta track.

Down the track we saw a lady stopped on the side of the road emptying out her boot. On a closer look she had a flat tyre. Out of respect I didn't post a photo as I didn't ask for her permission .

Scott offered to help her and she accepted his offer to help change her tyre. He turned around to walk and get some tools from his car and realised that we had a flat tyre also. We had about 3 other cars pass and they all stopped to make sure everyone was fine, which was a lovely feeling.

We then went to William Creek and had a refreshment at the pub. It was full of business cards on the ceiling and other bits and pieces too. Scott said years ago you paid $5 to place your business cards on the ceiling and the money went to the Royal Flying Doctors. The flies were extremely friendly here too.

We then went on to stay at Coward Springs which is a very quirky and Eco friendly caravan park. The sites are scattered around in the bushland so you don't really have anyone right next to you. The 2 showers are heated up once a day for an afternoon shower. There are also only 2 mens and 2 ladies toilets, so it helps if you are self sufficient with your own caravan. There is a natural spa here also and lots of date palms that were planted years ago in the Afghan Cameleer days. The owners make lots of items with the dates, eg icecream, scones, biscuits, relishes etc. that they sell in their little shop.

The scenery on the Oodnadatta track is once again very different to some of my other posts.

Safe travels everyone

We left Alice Springs yesterday morning and parked on the border last night in a roadside rest area with 3 other caravans and a couple of guys swagging it in their swags.

On the way we stopped at Kulgera to fill up with fuel.
I've taken a few snap shots of the clothesline with hanging boots and all the bras hanging in the pub part of the Roadhouse for you to have a giggle at.

Today we did a big drive of 420kms to Coober Pedy. You can see how the landscape changes dramatically over the kilometres. From green and bushy scrubland to sparse grasses on red dirt.

Then as we approach Coober Pedy you can see where they are mining for opals with all the white mullock heaps everywhere.

The last few days might not be as pretty as the Daintree river and rainforest photos in FNQ I have put up in past posts, but still spectacular in their own right.

Safe travels everyone and keep enjoying this wonderful land of ours.

We crossed into NT a couple of days ago and our first stop was the Barkly Homestead Roadhouse which has space for about 80 caravans and cabins too if just travelling by car. We stayed on the huge grassed area. We had a fabulous lunch there, the Barkly burger with chips, so filling that we didn't have dinner that night. Lots of bird life there also and another swimming pool, but we didn't use it. The Roadhouse itself is huge with lots of modern souvenir type items to buy.

We then stopped at Tennant Creek to do a shop as no fruit and vegetables allowed over the border. The town made me very sad seeing how they live there.

We did a big drive about 400kms to the Devils Marbles Hotel. Had a drink there but stayed across the road with about 10 other caravans.

We did go for a drive through and checked out the devils marbles along the way. They were amazing.

We are finding that the landscapes in Australia change from nothing either side to scrubland to trees. Along the way we are also seeing so many termite mounds everywhere.

We have just spent 2 days in the discovery caravan park in Alice Springs just for a rest from driving and to regroup ourselves. There are also the beautiful Australian Ringneck birds here again and they are so tame they come right up to you and will sit on your hand.

We will travel again tomorrow and stay just this side of the NT border to finish up our fruit and vegetables again. That's something you have to be wary of when travelling to not buy too much because of the strict border regulations.

We have just spent two glorious days and nights at Camooweal Billabong Qld free camping on the side of the billabong taking in the beautiful waterlilies, birds and butterflies.

The bird life was fantastic, there were eagles in nests with their young, hawks, pelicans gliding over the water, magpies, coots, dancing brolgas and other birds also but I don't know the names of them.

On the down side there were also flies, and at night there were mozzies and lots of bugs to try and keep out of the caravan.

Some lovely sunsets and sunrises too while we were there..

Please keep safe on the roads everyone as Easter comes to an end. 🦩🦆🦜🐦🕊️🦅

We did a full day of waterfall touring.

The photos are in order of the places mentioned below.

Malanda Falls, Millaa Millaa Falls, Zillie Falls, Mungali Creek Farmhouse Cafe, Lake Eacham, Yungaburra, Curtain Fig Tree .

It was another fantastic day of sightseeing with all the beautiful waterfalls.

We stopped at Mungali Creek Farmhouse Cafe for lunch which is also another popular spot.

We didn't spot a tree kangaroo but we did see a platypus and another Cassowary on the way to the Lake. People were swimming in the lake and they say to be careful of the fresh water crocodiles and you will be fine. It's very popular for swimming but I chose not to go for a swim 😬😬😬
The lake is of volcanic origin.

The huge fig tree was amazing, it has to be seen in real life to appreciate it more.

After dinner that night Scott and I introduced our friends to a game of Rummykin, lots of laughs were had and I think they are now hooked on the game also. Unfortunately the boys won all of the games, I'm sure they must have cheated 😆.

A little side note, Scott is ahead on the tally with just our Rummykin games, he's winning 10 to 9 at the moment but hopefully I will overtake him at some point during this trip. 🤪😉😂

I'm a few days behind with posting as we have been so busy sightseeing and driving.

Anyway a couple of days ago we drove to the Daintree area in Qld and went on a crocodile experience tour on the Daintree river. It was absolutely fantastic and worth doing and were were lucky enough to see a female and large male crocodile. Some pretty bird life also was around to enjoy.

On the way back we went to Port Douglas, the boys went to an Irish Pub while the girls went shopping to check out the Nothing Over $22 shop and Nothing Over $39 shop and a couple of other shops too. A couple more bargains were bought 😉.

We then went for a drive through Palm Cove just to check that out also.

A long driving day, but a fabulous day out with our friends. There was so much spectacular scenery along the way, the stunning rainforests just take your breath away as they are so beautiful. We were just in awe of the scenery and the photos don't do them justice. Sorry for the photo spam again oops

We left Mourilyan Harbour and our good friends a couple of days ago. We travelled through the Atherton Tablelands which were absolutely magnificent and I'm sure my photos don't do it justice. We arrived at the Mareeba Country Caravan Park which is an older style park but with beautiful big sites and gorgeous tropical grounds. Amenities are a bit dated but clean which is all we ever need. Hosts were friendly and put me onto a lovely hairdresser for a bit of a tidy up. For those who know Scott, he was fine with his hair 🤪.

We then proceeded to Kuranda to catch up with some more friends, got lost again 🤦🏻‍♀️ but we are here now.

Yesterday we went to the fruit markets in Cairns and then the Kuranda Markets which are quite large with lots of interesting stores etc.

We then went to Barron Falls and experienced the beautiful large waterfalls and walked through the rainforest to get there. Absolutely amazing. The train happened to come along while we were there and hundreds of people got off to take a million selfies with the waterfall.

Last night we then went out to dinner at Trinity Beach and had a lovely meal with our friends with great music in the background.

Keep safe everyone. 🌴🌴🌴

Hi, a little catch up as to what we have been doing. The last 8 days we have had a wonderful time with some dear friends. Scott has known Kathy for about 40 years. There have been many old stories brought up in conversations and lots of laughs over a few drinks.
We have been spoilt with their wonderful hospitality and shown many tourist spots nearby.

We went to Etty Bay which was a great drive through beautiful rainforests and then down to the beach eventually. It's an area known for cassowary birds and we were lucky enough to see one. They have a beautiful aqua blue neck etc but you can't get too close to them because in reality they are still a wild animal.

Another day we went to Mission Beach and attended the markets there. It was a bit wet while we were there but we still had a great time. While there Scott needed to go to the little man's room and unfortunately left his phone behind. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️It was about 30mins later he realised what he had done, raced back but it was gone. Anyway it all ended well as a young lad who had been brought up well by his parents had handed it in to the Rotary officials. He was serving behind the pancake stall. Scott insisted on giving him $20 reward even though his mother said it wasn't necessary. There was money in the wallet and it was all still there. It's good to know there are still some honest people around.

We also went to a place called The Pocket between Innisfail and Tully which sells unique gifts, coffee etc and also some amazing icecream flavours.

We also had meals at the RSL Innisfail and a couple of other cafes which have been great. I also managed to win a $25 seafood voucher in a raffle at the RSL from Innisfail Seafood.

Hope everyone is travelling safely and let's hope some of the flooded roads will go down soon in the middle of Qld. Feeling sad 😢 for all the people who have been flooded this year in Queensland.

This is a quick little post about a fan that has been a godsend to us in the caravan and outside also if needed as we don't have any aircon in the van. Would be great in tents or swags too.

It turns and twists every which way and has an extremely strong clip that will clip onto almost anything. It has 3 speeds but at night I mostly only have it on the low speed above the bed and facing me. It is USB charged so it is very convenient.

We have two of them and I bought them online about 2 years ago on Amazon I think, but I have seen similar ones on other websites too.

I've put up some photos of all the different angles just to give you an idea of how it works. From memory there used to be a video on YouTube, not sure if it's still there. We are not affiliated with the company, just sharing to help others who might appreciate something like this. The charge lasts forever also, but I haven't timed it exactly.

Keep cool everyone 🌴🌴🌴
