Your intuition isn't wrong. Your crystal DOES feel different. Here's why. 🔮
That feeling when your crystal feels heavy, dull, or like it's not working? You're not imagining it. Sometimes they need more than a basic cleanse.
CRYSTAL FEELS HEAVY 😓
Saturated with energy. Fix: Earth burial 3-7 days + moonlight charge. Still off? Time to retire it.
LOOKS DULL OR CLOUDY 🌫️
Physical or energetic issue. Fix: Wipe with damp cloth (if water-safe) or smoke cleanse daily for a week. Some patina is normal.
KEEPS "DISAPPEARING" 👻
Work is done or wrong energy match. Fix: Stop forcing it. Try a different crystal. Reappears? Cleanse and reassess.
BROKE OR CHIPPED 💔
Physical damage or energetic protection. Fix: Small chips = keep using. Major breaks = thank it, bury it. Tools wear out.

If you've put selenite in salt water, I have bad news... 😬
The internet is full of crystal cleansing advice. Some will literally destroy your crystals. Here's what NOT to do, because replacing crystals is expensive and annoying.
SALT WATER DANGER ZONE 🧂💧
Salt water works—for SOME crystals. For others, it's a death sentence.
NEVER put these in salt water:
❌ Selenite (dissolves)
❌ Lepidolite (breaks apart)
❌ Malachite (toxic when wet + deteriorates)
❌ Calcite (erodes)
❌ Pyrite (rusts)
❌ Hematite (rusts)
❌ Angelite (breaks down)
❌ Fluorite (too soft)
❌ Turquoise (discolors)
❌ Lapis Lazuli (contains pyrite, damages)
THE RULE: Mohs hardness under 6? Keep away from water. When in doubt, use moonlight or smoke.
SUNLIGHT PROBLEM ☀️
Prolonged sun exposure fades many stones:
Sun-Sensitive:
❌ Amethyst (fades to clear)
❌ Rose Quartz (fades to white)
❌ Citrine (fades pale)
❌ Fluorite (fades & cracks)
❌ Aventurine (fades)
❌ Celestite (fades)
❌ Aquamarine (fades)
Sun-Safe:
✅ Clear Quartz
✅ Carnelian
✅ Sunstone

THE RULE: Pale or pastel crystals? Keep out of direct sunlight. Few hours won't kill it, but don't leave on sunny windowsills long-term.
FAQS:
✅ I already put selenite in salt water. Ruined?
Probably. If it's chalky or dissolving, yes. Caught it quickly? Dry immediately, accept possible damage.
✅ How do I know Mohs hardness?
Google "[crystal name] Mohs hardness." Or stick to universal methods.
✅ Himalayan salt instead of sea salt?
Salt is salt. The problem is water + salt on soft/porous stones.
✅ My amethyst faded. Can I fix it?
No. Color change is permanent. Read care instructions, folks.
✅ What about indirect sunlight?
Safer, but still risky for sensitive stones over time. Unsure? Use moonlight.
