Approximately 1 in 10 children experience earwax impaction. Watch for signs like ear pulling, not responding when you speak, or complaints of fullness. Safe cleaning means wiping only the outside of ears with a soft cloth - never use cotton buds inside. Remember: nothing smaller than your elbow should go in the ear.

Is microsuction the same as having my ears syringed?

Unlike traditional ear syringing or irrigation, which uses water to flush out earwax, microsuction and curettage rely on direct visualisation and specialised instruments.

Instead of water, our trained registered nurses use specialised equipment for a clear view of the ear canal. A fine suction tube or a small, curved curette is then used to carefully and precisely remove the wax. This dry approach minimises risks associated with water, making the procedure safer and more comfortable.
