It is with great sadness that we farewell such an esteemed colleague and true gentleman.

Dr Aronow was a gracious host to the Australian Surgeons as the guest nation at AOFAS 2024 in Vancouver. As President of the Australian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, Dr Stavrou was fortunate to work with Dr Aronow during his Presidency.

He will be sorely missed by many.

Just what does it take to become an Orthopaedic Surgeon? Orthopaedic Surgeons complete 6 years undergraduate study (or 4 years postgraduate study) to qualify for their basic Medical Degree. After completing their Internship, budding surgeons spend a few years rotating through our public hospitals to gather more surgical experience. After their first postgraduate surgical exam, they apply for their “advanced training” in the area of chosen specialty – bones in the case of Orthopaedic Surgeons! After completing advanced training and successfully passing their second post graduate exam, then they go onto “fellowship training” in the area of their sub specialty

If left untreated, bunions can cause worsening pain and problems in the other toes. Minimally Invasive 'Keyhole' Bunion Surgery is a surgical procedure aimed at correcting bunions using small incisions, often less than 5mm in size, which results in less extensive tissue manipulation. This translates to reduced scarring, faster recovery, less postoperative pain and improved cosmetic outcomes. Put your bunions in the hands of leading Orthopadic Surgeon Dr Peter Stavrou
