Well it's not something I really wanted to do but the time has come.
Due to ongoing issues with my hands I am having to suspend operations until I can get it rectified. At this point in time I am unsure when I will be back but it has been suggested that I may have to have surgery to correct the issues. This will be done under the public health system as a non urgent procedure so take away what you will from that.
To say I am absolutely gutted is an understatement but I will be back bigger and better once this is done and I can get back t promising realistic timelines.
I would like to thank each and every one of you that have sent enquiries or had work done by Garrison Medal Mounting and I really do hope to be back at it as soon as humanly possible.

IMPORTANT NEWS
I have recently received a full time job offer within the Defence Sector to which I have gladly accepted.

Due to this I will be scaling back the amount of medal orders I can process in a timely manner. I always pride myself on my work and would hate to have people waiting weeks for sets to be done or at a lesser quality than what I am used to.

I am by no means shutting the doors but in saying that there may be a slightly longer delay in getting your medals to you.

Well we really didn't want to do it but the time has come.

Due to the increased costs of materials, postage and other associated costs we've had to slightly increase our prices across the board to stay afloat.

We have absorbed these costs for as long as we can but we have made the tough decision to either slightly increase or shut down.

We really do not want to take the second option as we love doing what we do and serving those that have served us.

Price increases will come in to effect from October 1st 2022.

We'd like to take this moment to thank all of our future customers for understanding and we look forward to helping you with all your medal mounting needs.

🇦🇺❤️ PTE Robert Poate ❤️🇦🇺

Today we pause to remember the life of Private Robert Poate who was tragically gunned down in a Green on Blue attack at Patrol Base Wahab in the Baluchi Valley region of Uruzgan province Afghanistan on the 29th August 2012.

Private Robert Poate was a member of the 3rd Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment Task Group and was from the 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (6 RAR), based in Brisbane, Queensland.

Private Poate was born in Canberra, in 1988. He enlisted in the Army in 2009. On completion of his basic and initial employment training, he was posted as a rifleman to 6 RAR. Private Poate was a highly qualified soldier, having completed specialist training as a Protected Mobility Vehicle Driver in 2010 and Protected Mobility Vehicle Commander in 2011.

Private Poate was known for having outstanding leadership potential, which led to him completing a promotion course for Corporal in 2011. He will be fondly remembered by his friends in 6 RAR as a larrikin and an incredibly professional soldier. Private Poate was proud of his family, his military service, his Canberra origins and his red hair which he vehemently defended as being strawberry blonde.

Private Poate is survived by his parents Hugh and Janny, and his sister, Nicola.

RIP, your duty is done.

STATEMENT📢 We can confirm the soldier who was reportedly killed in Ukraine while on leave was Corporal Dominic Abelen.

Corporal Abelen, 28, served with 2nd/1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment based in Burnham, and had served with the NZDF for 10 years.

He was on a period of leave without pay at the time of his death and was not on active duty with the NZDF.

“Any loss of one of our whānau is deeply felt across the New Zealand Defence Force. We are concentrating our efforts on supporting Corporal Abelen’s loved ones and our personnel as they grieve” ~ Acting Chief of Army Brigadier Rose King

Recently we had a customer send us their medals.

They wanted us to attach long service clasps to their miniature DLSM and also add in their National Emergency Medal with the 19-20 Bushfire clasp.

Upon receiving the medals they were in a condition that was a bit worse for wear. After consulting with the client we suggested to replace all the ribbons, mount all medals with new ribbons and replace the slip on DLSM clasps with sew ons. The sew on clasps provide a nicer, more flush finish.

We're always looking out for our customers and we provide the best possible care whilst doing these sets, if we see something wrong or something that can be improved on then we will send you a message with our suggestions before proceeding with the work.

When you choose Garrison Medal Mounting for your medal needs we will consult with you through the entire process from start to finish.

If you have a tired looking set of medals that are in need of updating or just a spruce up, contact us for a free no obligation quote. All we need is a few good photos of your medals and we'll know exactly what needs to be done.

Beautiful set of miniatures and ribbon bars off to to their owner on Monday. We rushed through his set of Full Size medals just before ANZAC Day so he at least had something to wear.

We are still taking orders so if you need any work done shoot us a PM and we'd be more than willing to help.

Burning the midnight oil tonight.
Have finished all the orders for ANZAC Day so have decided to knock up a set of my Great Cousins WW2 Medals to wear tomorrow. He was a tail gunner on the Lancaster based at RAF Waddington.

Often we speak of heroes being sport people, actors, etc but this guy, although I never met him he is one of my heroes.

I will be having a beer for you tomorrow mate.
