According to Understood, approximately 5-15% of people have a specific learning disability (SpLD), including Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Dysgraphia. For kids and adults who are Autistic and/or ADHDers, these rates are significantly higher.

Do you know the scope and sequence of your phonics programme?

It is really important to match the decodable books that children read to the phonics they have been learning. This is because they should be using their decoding to read the books and in order to do this, they need to have a recall of the sound/letter bonds (correspondences) they have already learned.

It is important that teachers know their programme well so that can teach with an overview of what has been taught and needs to be practiced, and where to go next. This will help them to use decodable books to the best effect.

What is the scope and sequence of our books? Click on this link to see the scope and sequence of our books, which follows the Sounds-Write programme. Note that our books can complement any phonics programme if they are matched to the scope and sequence of that programme. Here is the scope and sequence of our UK range of books.

Today marks the start of Speech Pathology Week!

Across the week, I'll be promoting my awesome profession and the ways in which we work to ensure that ‘communication is everyone’s right’.

Today is the start of Speech Pathology Week (22-28 August). The week aims to promote the speech pathology profession and how speech pathologists work with the 1.2 million Australians who have communication disability to ensure that ‘communication is everyone’s right’.
