This International Women’s Day, we asked some of our amazing team members a simple question — “How would you define a woman?”

Their answers were thoughtful, powerful, and deeply personal. From stunning. incredible. icon. warrior. classy. inspiration. equality. grateful each response reflected the many qualities that women bring to our workplaces, communities, and everyday lives.

For the first time at Care Assure, we came together to celebrate Holi – the festival of colours. It was a wonderful opportunity for our diverse team to experience and learn about the origins of this vibrant festival from India, which symbolises joy, renewal, and the victory of good over evil.

Team members from different countries joined in the celebration, sharing colours, laughter, and stories about cultural traditions. Moments like these remind us how powerful diversity and inclusion are in bringing people together.

It was not just a celebration of Holi, but a celebration of community, culture, and connection within the Care Assure family.

Care Assure is a South Australian-based NDIS service provider committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care that uplifts lives and communities. With a strong presence across Adelaide, Mount Gambier, Whyalla, Port Augusta, Hobart, Launceston, and beyond, we are proud to support over 168 participants and continue to grow year after year.

Our diverse team of over 450 dedicated professionals brings warmth, compassion, and cultural understanding to every aspect of care. 71% of our Operations team identify as women, and 88% come from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds -many of whom are single mothers, survivors of domestic violence, or individuals seeking their first job in Australia. This intentional and inclusive approach shapes the heart of our services.

At Care Assure, we believe in giving back. 10% of our revenue supports charities and more than 100 orphaned children globally. We also champion local communities by sourcing supplies from sole traders and women-led small businesses across South Australia.

In 2025 alone, we delivered nearly 4 million hours of support and introduced new services in Port Pirie, Mount Barker, Hobart, Launceston, and Nelson. Our continued success has been recognised through several awards, including the Citizen of the Year – City of Salisbury (2025) and Australian Small Business Champion Awards (2025).

We’re also proud to offer free, AI-powered English training for support workers through our partnership with Vocare, helping bridge language and cultural gaps, and improving service delivery. As a DAMA-approved organisation, we’ve brought skilled professionals from overseas to contribute meaningfully to regional communities in Mount Gambier, Port Augusta, and Whyalla.

Looking ahead, Care Assure’s vision is to lead the transition from disability care into aged care, supporting participants as they age with the same empathy, excellence, and cultural sensitivity we’re known for. We aim to redefine aged care by blending compassion and clinical excellence, ensuring dignity, purpose, and connection at every life stage.

When leadership is rooted in lived experience, it changes everything.

The journey of our CEO Madeeha Usman is a reminder that sometimes the most powerful movements begin with a mother’s determination to do better.

At Care Assure, we believe in empowering people, investing in our teams, and creating culturally safe spaces where everyone feels valued.

💫 When I think about the International Women's Day Theme this year, 'Balance the Scales', I can't think of anyone who personifies this in 'action' more than Madeeha Usman, FGLF.

It is with gratitude that I can announce that Madeeha's beloved Care Assure as our GOLD Partner.

👌 Mahdeeha and I first felt a genuine connection through the Leaders Institute of South Australia, discovering a shared foundation in the Governor’s Leadership Foundation journey. That common experience of values driven leadership, systems thinking, and service beyond self has created a deep sense of alignment and mutual respect. Not to mention our shared lived experience and overarching purpose in common.

In 2019, after navigating the pain of trying to find dignified, culturally safe disability support for her daughter, Madeeha made a quiet but powerful decision. If the system could not offer what her family needed, she would help reshape it. This echo's my experience as a mother and a carer and what drove me to start The Carers Place.

What has struck me most in learning more about Madeeha, is that she creates spaces where women, migrants, and people from diverse cultural backgrounds are not only included but empowered. Employing people from disadvantaged backgrounds, Madeeha invests in her new and existing staff, training them from the ground up that ensures she sets them up for success, whilst ensuring that Care Assure clients receive the very best care.

🩷 Valuing, highlighting and celebrating the power of lived experience is a key objective for this Luncheon and I am so proud that leaders like Madeeha see the value in this event.
