Stillness can feel harder than movement.

Restorative yoga looks simple — lying down, being still. But for many of us, it’s confronting.

Without the distraction of doing, we’re left with what’s actually going on beneath the surface.

Simon’s class tonight offers a supported way to be with that. Not to push it away, not to fix it — just to notice. To practise being okay with stillness, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Stillness can feel harder than movement.

Downward Dog loads your shoulders, hips, hamstrings and wrists—all at once. It’s often taught as a rest pose, but for many people, it’s anything but.

Jump backs require power, control, and timing—things most of us haven’t trained for.
Chaturanga introduces load under fatigue, and when done repetitively or without support, it’s a recipe for frustration (or injury).
Upward Dog demands spinal extension, shoulder stability, and access to hip mobility—not just flexibility, but strength and control.

These shapes aren’t good or bad. They’re just movement patterns—ones we can explore, adapt, and refine based on how your body responds.

At Jeeva, we use these familiar sequences as a framework for something deeper: developing movement awareness, building resilience, and creating a sustainable practice that respects your nervous system and your lived experience.

You won’t just be told what to do. You’ll learn why it matters, how to do it differently, and what your body is telling you in the process.

Shavasana isn't just a tradition; it’s a trauma-informed practice that helps your nervous system shift into a parasympathetic state, supporting relaxation and recovery.

Skipping it can mean missing out on these important benefits. It's not just about lying down—it's about giving your body and mind time to process and integrate the practice.

If lying down doesn’t feel safe or comfortable for you, Shavasana can be practiced seated or on your side—whatever helps you feel more at ease and supported.

At Jeeva, we ask that you stay for Shavasana out of respect for others. Moving or leaving early can disrupt their rest, and stillness allows everyone to benefit from the practice in their own way.
