Hi to all from the Team at Mental Health Partners,

The next few weeks, maybe months, are going to be tough for a lot of us. The conflict around the world and particularly in the Middle East is going to test us all. Unfortunately, these things tend to have a flow on affect, which impact us in several ways.
Staying resilient during times of conflict and economic uncertainty, like the War in Iran and the resulting rise in petrol prices, involves both personal and community strategies. Consider adjusting your household budget to prioritise essential expenses, conserve fuel by using public transport or carpooling, and explore remote work options if available. Supporting local businesses and sharing resources within your neighbourhood can also help ease financial pressures. Remember to stay informed with reliable news sources, look after your mental health, and reach out to support networks when needed. By working together and staying adaptable, we can better manage the challenges ahead. Remember, if you need mental health support, please reach out to us at: www.mentalhealthpartners.com.au

Until next week, remember.
Mental Health is Everyone's Business.

HI to all from the Mental Health Partners Team,

Last week we spoke about February 21st being Mental Health Nurses Day and what a great job they do in our community.
This week we would like to pay tribute to ALL nurses in our community and recognise the work they do. Being a nurse requires a unique blend of compassion, resilience, and professionalism. Nurses are not only trained in medical knowledge and practical skills, but also in communication and empathy. They must be able to handle emergencies, make quick decisions, and work collaboratively with doctors and other healthcare staff. The path to becoming a nurse involves rigorous study, hands-on training, and ongoing education to keep up with the latest developments in healthcare.
In our community, the work of nurses is particularly demanding. They are often the frontline workers, dealing with everything from minor injuries to complex illnesses. The hours can be long, and shifts are usually unpredictable, sometimes stretching into the late arvo or overnight. Nurses routinely face emotionally challenging situations, supporting patients and families through difficult times, while maintaining their own wellbeing. Despite these challenges, their dedication ensures that the community receives quality care and support every day.
So, if you know a nurse, reach out to them and let them know how appreciated they are. Their hard work shapes the health and wellbeing of our community, making them invaluable members of society.

Until next week, remember.
Mental Health is Everyone's Business.

Hi to all from the Team at Mental Health Partners.

Saturday the 21st of February 2026 is Mental Health Nurses Day !!

Why Mental Health Nurses' Day Matters

Mental Health Nurses' Day is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the vital role mental health nurses play in our healthcare system and communities. Mental health nurses are at the frontline of mental health care, providing compassionate, evidence-based support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, as well as their families and carers.

This day acknowledges the dedication, expertise, and resilience of mental health nurses who work tirelessly to improve outcomes for people living with mental illness. It's a chance to raise awareness about the specialty of mental health nursing, inspire the next generation of nurses, and highlight the critical importance of mental health care in achieving overall wellbeing for all Australians.

So, let's take a minute to stop and celebrate what a fantastic job these people do in our communities.

Until next week, remember.
Mental Health is Everyone's Business.

HI to all from the Team at Mental Health Partners

Personal resilience

Last week we discussed Families this week ourselves.

We are always saying to people we have in our classes:
You are the most important person
Look after yourself first
You can't help others if you're not OK
And a lot of other similar things

But do we really mean it?

YES we do!!!!

Just a small change in your daily or weekly routine can make a world of difference.

For example, I do THREE 2 minute things each day to help me stay grounded and feeling good they are:
Mindfulness
Walking
Breathing

Nothing earth shattering I know, but you (as I was) will be amazed what a difference a small change can make.

So why not try, Start, see if any of these things or a range of anything that is calming to you can make a difference?
As they say you have nothing to loose.

Until Next week remember
Mental Health is Everyone's Business.

As I was reflecting today, I was thinking about resilient communities and what communities I think are one of the most resilient. It didn't take long as members of my family are in farming. Farmers face a multitude of variables that impact their livelihoods. Despite these challenges,
Australian farmers have developed remarkable resilience, adapting their practices and mindsets to thrive in the face of adversity.
Farmers face constant challenges from weather patterns, market fluctuations, pests and disease, input costs and policy and regulations. Resilience is not just about practical solutions; it also involves mental toughness and strong community networks. Many farmers participate in support groups, local co-operatives, and industry associations, which provide advice, advocacy, and a sense of solidarity during tough times. Mental health initiatives and rural outreach programs have become increasingly important, recognising the emotional toll that farming’s uncertainties can take. However, not all get the help they need, and we need to support our farming community.
In Mental Health being resilient is a way of preventing serious mental illness from becoming an issue in the first place. Mental Health Partners specialize in Preventative Mental Health by using proven science backed programs and strategies, to build individuals and community resilience. HI to all from the Team at Mental Health Partners

Continuing a journey in resilience

Not all days are the same!
Not all people are the same!

What's important?

START
Just make a start, once you have started it all becomes easier.

What does a start look like, well it can come from anywhere.
My start was in Health, I had to start better sleep patterns, so I started.
Step one let your partner know your trying to make changes.
Then start working on the things that will improve sleep - Reduce Caffeine No Screens before bed Make Bedroom
. Silent
. Dark
. Cool
There a many things that you can do, I started averaging 4-5 hours sleep per night, now I have a healthy Average of 7.5 per night, very consistently, not perfect, just consistent.

It took time, for me that journey was more than 6 months.
But I STARTED.

When will you START?

Hello to all from the Team at Mental Health Partners,

Last week I talked about Personal Resilience, what is it? Why do we need it? Where can we learn about it.

I want to help you understand what this journey can do, so I am going to tell you what it has done for me. When I first did my first Resilience Survey, I was 42/100, which shocked me because I thought I was pretty Resilient. The average for any adult is somewhere between 50-70%, so I had some work to do.

My main area that I scored low in was Health, so I made some small changes that really helped by following the principle of "Small Things Done Consistently". I made sure I had a regular bed routine which improved my sleep and stopped drinking caffeine after 4pm. I increased my fruit intake and decreased the sweets. My job means I sit a lot, so moving by monitoring my steps was also important.

I am happy to say my score is 69 currently and with a bit more work I can increase that score. However, the Resilience Journey is not a destination, it is a Personal Growth Journey. Done at your pace and there will be fluctuations, because that's life, right?

If you would like to learn about the 6 domains of Resilience, Health, Vision, Collaboration, Tenacity, Reasoning and Composure. See below to start your journey!

Hi to all from the Team at Mental Health Partners

We hear a lot in the Media and from Politicians about the term "Resilience".

So, what is Resilience? Why do we need Resilience? Where can we learn about it?

When it comes to Mental Health, we describe "Resilience" as "Advancing Despite Adversity". It's a Prevention Program designed to increase an Individual's Resilience, which they can then help to increase the Resilience of the people around them. This is what I like to call the Tsunami Affect.

Why? We are all told, to stay healthy you need to eat a nutritious diet, get enough sleep and exercise regularly. Right? That's great but do we ever think about exercising our brains and keeping that mentally fit? The brain runs every system in our body and therefore is the most vital part of our body to keep "Fit". Nobody has the perfect life, things will go wrong, so it's how you train your mind to respond that will help you through times of "Adversity". Allowing you to "keep going" and keep "Advancing" through those difficult times.

Where? I am glad you asked!
