Practitioners can test for tension on both sides of the spinous process using a firm contact and gentle movement with one or two fingers. If resistance is found on one side over the other a remedial therapist, using firm pressure, can relax the side of tension, if using polarity technique the opposite pole to the region should be treated or a bowen technique may achieve the desired result.
