We love hearing about - and celebrating! - our clients' amazing bone density scan results.

Here at the EP. EP. Studio, we are licensees of the ONERO program for osteoporosis and specialists in safe and effective exercise prescriptions. We have been helping clients manage and improve their bone density via ONERO since 2019 - with some incredible results, like Sue's, along the way!

The whole team came together a few weeks ago to dive deep into what happens to our thinking styles when we are stressed!

The wonderful Sally Rundle facilitated another insightful and inspiring session for us.

Every team member has a Herrmann Whole Brain Thinking profile which helps us understand ourselves more deeply, how we relate and work together as a team, and where our are sweet spots are (...and perhaps are not!). Each and every one of us is unique and bringing those unique and wonderful qualities into the studio everyday is pure magic. However, we are human and also have tough or stressful days. We now know how to best support each other in those times - a hug, a focused to-do list, space to process, seeking exact details or maybe supportive shoulder squeeze.

Thank you Sally for holding space for us and showing us how magnificent we all are.

We wanted to give a shout out to our amazing EP. EP. Studio Admin team - Chloe and Rebecca.

These women are the backbone of our Studio and literally keep the wheels turning. They often have multiple tasks to navigate and complete each day, all whilst helping and welcoming our clients, keeping the practitioners days rolling smoothly, and working with Erin on behind the scenes business things.

Not to mention they both lead very full and active lives outside of the studio.

They approach it all with a positive attitude and a smile, even on the days that are hard or challenging.

This month in classes we will be focusing on our squats!

When performed correctly, squats are a functional exercise that can strengthen your lower body and core, improve your balance and posture, and help general mobility.

And while we hope that you might be able to increase your weights during squat month, that's not the sole purpose! We will also be focusing on technique, depth, and on strengthening all the muscles you use for the squat movement.

Let's talk about bones.

Did you know:

ℹ️ Over 1.2 million people in Australia are estimated to have osteoporosis.
ℹ️ A further 6.3 million Australians have low bone density.
ℹ️ There are over 183,000 broken bones each year due to poor bone health.

At EP.EP. we offer the gold standard approach for the management of Osteoporosis/Osteopenia through the ONERO program, a proven treatment option for managing osteoporosis (in conjunction with recommendations from your GP). As we hit the winter months, we know the days are cold, it gets dark early, and the last thing you feel like doing is exercising.

Here are our top tips for staying motivated to exercise during winter!

1. Switch it up - varying your workouts keeps things interesting. You might want to try a different class to change things up a bit - like our HIIT/SIT classes next month!

2. Be flexible - sometimes it's just about showing up rather than pushing to hit PBs in every session. Be kind to yourself and listen to your body and energy levels.

3. Create a winter routine - it can be a real struggle getting out of bed for those early morning classes in winter or getting to those classes later on in the day when it's dark. Try switching to a different class time if you need to - we have even more class availability throughout the day now at our new Grange Road Studio!

4. At home programs - did you know that we can create an off-site exercise program for you to do in the comfort of your own home? This can be a great alternative if you think you're going to struggle coming to your weekly class during winter.

What's the difference between High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and Sprint Interval Training (SIT)?✅ Intensity - H...

What's the difference between High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and Sprint Interval Training (SIT)?

✅ Intensity - HIIT workouts are around 80% of your maximal effort, whereas you are working at absolute 100% effort (called supramaximal effort!) in SIT workouts.

✅ Intervals - HIIT intervals are normally 60 seconds on average, whereas SIT intervals are shorter - 30 seconds max (although maybe it doesn't feel like it at the time!).

✅ Rest - Rest periods in SIT workouts are shorter...just enough to go again at 100%.

✅Duration - HIIT workouts are usually around 20 minutes in length, whereas SIT workouts are slightly shorter.

Even though there are small differences between HIIT and SIT, the benefits are similar! These include improved metabolic capacity, improved blood pressure control and cardiovascular health, stimulus to decrease visceral/subcutaneous fat, improved cognition, and reduced oxidative stress - just to name a few!
