If you're feeling flat, there's a few things nutritionally to consider:
1. Eat Regularly – Eating at regular times throughout the day helps maintain your energy levels. Eating smaller, more frequent meals can help you maintain your energy and avoid crashes.
2. Eat Complex Carbohydrates – Complex carbohydrates, such as oats, whole-wheat bread, and quinoa, are digested more slowly than simple carbohydrates, and they provide sustained energy.
3. Make sure you drink enough water! Dehydration is a key reason for fatigue. Set drink reminders on your phone if you struggle with this!
4. More Colour for More Vitamins and Minerals – Foods rich in healthy vitamins and minerals, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, provide energy and support your body’s metabolic processes. Variety of colour means variety of nutrients!
5. Avoid Sugary and Processed Foods – Sugary and processed foods can provide a quick burst of energy, but they cannot sustain it. Avoiding these types of foods can help you maintain your energy levels.
6. Still tired? See your GP. Good levels to ask to have checked are iron, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, Folate.
